23 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | December 2015 | Memoir Class is for novices and more experienced writers alike, presenting techniques long used by fiction writers to craft compelling characters, places and stories. It shows how to apply these techniques to writing an unforgettable narrative. And, at the same time, have fun sampling great desserts. Please join us Tuesdays, 2 to 5 pm in the Art Room. Memoir Writing Class & Desserts TGIF We continue to celebrate the end of the week two times a month, on the first and third Fridays. That is not to say that we don't know that we live in a community where many residents celebrate their life each week with six Saturdays and a Sunday! The community has supported this social gathering on Fridays for many years and as we begin to turn to a new year we will continue the tradition. This year the committee chose to divide the community into 12 sectors and each month a few select streets were specifically invited to TGIF as the honored guests. December is no different as on Dec. 4 we invite those living on Bogey Avenue, Campbell Court, Cabrera Drive, Faldo Avenue, Harrington Court and Bjorn Court to come and share their favorite recipes. On Friday, Dec. 18 we can kick off the holiday week with the final TGIF of 2015. Let's make it the biggest and best one yet. We would like to thank the hard working committee who has served the TGIF gatherings this year. Bob Morriss and his wife, Linda chaired the committee and wish to think the following committee members in supporting the needs of the gathering: Scott and Jennifer Beaudreau, Jo Ann Callju, Bob and Diane Haunschild, Dale and Diane Jones, David and Judy McLean and Bruce and Robin Rickert. There were always other helping hands as well and we would like to thank those who have stepped in when needed. As 2016 approaches Bruce and Robin Rickert have stepped up to the plate and will be chairing the TGIF committee. To decrease the responsibility of set up and clean up twice a month there is a need for four to five other couples. Each Friday that we dine together only three couples (or six hands) are needed so the responsibility of always having to be there does not exist. Those who regularly attend TGIF--please consider helping the committee as we turn our calendars. Particularly if you have been a regular attendee of TGIF; we would appreciate you seriously considering helping. Certainly, if you have been on the committee before, you are more than welcome to return. Your help is always appreciated. If you are willing to volunteer, please call Robin Rickert at (951) 223-3803 or email her at rickert_92545@yahoo, com. When attending TGIF you are asked to bring an appetizer, salad, main course, or dessert that can feed 8-10 people. And always bring your favorite beverage. Coffee is provided. Bringing your own plates and silverware keep the committee expenses to a minimum. Book Club All readers interested in great discussions, occasional guest speakers and movies, join us the third Monday of every month. Our book for December is Defending Jacob by William Landay.
