| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | December 2015 | 4 As you read this issue of your Hemet Herald, December 2015 will be upon us and another year in our lives will soon pass into the mist. On that note, we submitted an article for the March 2011 issue of our community newsletter that talked, philosophically, about time and our use thereof. We are all now almost five years older and during this season of reflection, that life lesson is deemed worthy of repeating for all of us to "ponder" once again. Imagine for a moment that you have won the following prize. Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 in your account, but there would be strings attached. First, any money that you did not spend that day you would lose. Second, the bank can end the game at any time without warning, i.e., "game over." What would you do with the money each day? The answer is obvious, rather than lose it; you would likely spend it all! In reality we are all already playing this game, it is called LIFE. Each of us is in possession of such a magical bank account and it is called TIME. Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift. This represents the number of seconds in each twenty- four hour day and those that we don't use we lose. What will you do with your 86,400 seconds today? That dear reader is entirely up to you. However, here are some suggestions. Take care of yourself and your family, treat others with respect and kindness, be slow to judge and swift to forgive, be happy, laugh loudly, love deeply and enjoy every second, because we cannot know on which second it will be "game over." We are so fortunate to be a part of our Four Seasons Community wherein we can breathe life into the words written above. We have heard time and again that more and sincere friendships have been made since living here, than at any time during many of our lives. When we consider the time and effort being put forth by so many of our resident volunteers to sustain our community, we are humbled. When we observe the kindnesses being extended one to another, we are overwhelmed. When we witness the charitable work performed by our residents and the generosity of our giving to those less fortunate, we are deeply moved. When we look around and drink in the beauty of our surroundings, we are so grateful. When these things are taken together, it is like watching poetry in motion. We elect a Board of Directors to provide governance to our Association, but they are only temporary Stewards, it is to each homeowner that ownership belongs. Stated simply our mission is to help protect the integrity of our environment, sustain our financial foundation, enhance our surroundings and ensure the continuance of the quality of life that we signed up for when we purchased our homes. To this end the Board Members devote a considerable number of their allotted seconds almost every day, as they "walk the walk." Please know that we fully subscribe to the above credo, and while we know that we may stumble every now and then, we will not fail you due to a lack of effort. After all, we live here too. Speaking of effort, please direct your attention to a special message in this issue from Director Russ Brown. It contains an appeal to those of you who possess unique knowledge and or skills that could greatly assist our emergency preparedness team in the event of a catastrophe. Please read. To all we send our sincere best wishes for a healthy, peaceful and joy filled holiday season, and per the poet Robert Burns, "…take a cup of kindness yet, for Auld Lang Syne." Cheers! Message From the Board of Directors Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board, Tony, Greg, Ken, Russ, Jim & Gene Hal Townend, President Hal Townend, President
