12 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2015 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel If you have not subscribed to the Beaumont Senior Center Newsletter, you are missing important information. To receive information about happenings in our community, you only need to call Beaumont Senior Service (951) 769-8539 and ask to be put on the subscription list. Beaumont's Low Cost Animal Clinic will change as of February 2016. There will not be clinics for the months of November and December 2015. The first Low Cost Animal Clinics will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6 and Feb. 16, and May 7 and 16 from 9 to 11 am at the Beaumont Civic Center on 550 E. Sixth Street in Beaumont. The annual Christmas Light Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 6 pm on Palm Avenue, moving south. Please join your fellow citizens of our special community for this festive event. There will not be a Lunch and Learn program in December – just too many other things happening. Please come to the Veteran's Expo on Saturday, Jan. 30. The event will honor Gulf War, Desert Storm, Iraqi and Afghanistan veterans but will be open to all military veterans, family and friends. Representatives from VA, Loma Linda, Mental Health Services, and Work Force Development will be there. The event will be open from 10 am to 2 pm at the Beaumont Civic Center. Special information for a grieving person's Bill of Rights had particular relevance to those who are going through difficult times with older family members and loved ones. An article noted that it is important to give yourself time for your own particular grief, and to talk about your grief. If you are experiencing the demise or the deterioration of a loved one, you will feel a multitude of emotions and you need to be tolerant of your own physical and emotional limits. There may be a wave of grief attacks. It will help to make use of ritual and embrace your own spiritually. Search for meaning and treasure your memories. As a friend of mine observed after the death of her husband you need to take each day one at a time – sometimes slogging through the pain and sometimes enjoying your memories, as much as possible. The passages of time are not always for the faint of heart! There are bereavement groups in Four Seasons and in the city of Beaumont. In Beaumont, the group meets on the second and Fourth Friday of the month at Chantigny Center at 9 am; at the Lodge, the group meets every Monday at 1 pm. But time does pass and the month moves quickly. Enjoy your last days of 2015 and make good plans for 2016. There will be a new year!
