For additional information, contact Patrick at (951) 769-7626. ~ Patrick Gerety D.O.G. Dog Owners' Interest Group Medical Transportation Assistance Interest Group We need economical, convenient, efficient transportation for the seniors in our community to get to medical facilities and other essential services like groceries. We are working toward getting subsidies to apply towards the existing high fares of taxis. We need your support. Most important right now is for you to go online or to the Lodge and fill out the questionnaire that the city of Beaumont is sponsoring. Pass Transit wants to hear from you about your transportation needs and desires. Online, log on to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ passtransitseniors and fill out the 16-question form. Pass Transit, the Banning/Beaumont Pass subsidiary of the Riverside County Transit Agency (RTA) wants help planning our future transportation needs. Please by all means put your personal comments at the bottom of the questionnaire. We met this month at the Lodge with Mario Janesin of the Riverside Community Access Center and Rita and Richard Skwara of the Low Vision Support Program from Sun Lakes to brainstorm ideas for our senior transportation plan. For anyone who would like to share their ideas at one of these meetings, please call Brenda Teeman at (909) 594-8487 and we will add you to our schedule. Thank you to all those who supported us at the Nov. 5 Transportation Now (T-NOW) meeting. T-Now is a citizens group dedicated to improving mass transit and sponsored by the RTA. T-NOW meets the first Thursday of the month at Beaumont City Hall. Meetings will continue there until February when they will be scheduled in Calimesa. Anyone who wants to attend is welcome. Free lunch is furnished at these meetings. Mike Jones from Sun Lines Transit Agency spoke at the T-NOW meeting about the existing taxi program in the Coachella Valley which is subsidized by federal grants. Beaumont Mayor Brenda Knight assured us she is working on getting subsidies for senior transportation, and that the city will be in touch with Jones who will help Pass Transit apply for federal grants.
