| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2015 |29 Cruzin' Cronies We're a classic and not-so-classic car club that holds meetings on the first Saturday of each month. We display our cars in the parking lot of the Main Clubhouse, have a short meeting in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room, and go to breakfast at a local restaurant. There are no dues, no extra fees, just fellowship, story swapping, and laughter. We often have featured speakers, day trips, and attend larger car shows. Come and join us! Call Sandra Glickman, 267-3187. This wonderful holiday season, filled with excitement and joy, is upon us already. It's now time to finish up the shopping, plan the meals and enjoy all the upcoming social events with our friends and families. Hopefully, first on your list is the Paisano holiday party! It was a grand Armistice Day celebration in November. The music and song, provided by DJ Blast, caused us to swell with patriotic pride as we honored the servicemen and women of our Country. Provi Donadio also outdid herself once again by planning a delicious meal for us to enjoy. Thank you Provi, and also thanks to all of the members who have helped to make our club such a success this past year. Our Christmas event is going to be a wonderful affair. The South Clubhouse will be transformed into a place of magic by Jeannette Cadmus and her special workers. You can look forward to delightful holiday food including shrimp cocktail, antipasto for each table, prime rib and sliced ham with roasted finger potatoes and green beans almadine. Champagne will also be served. Your entertainment will be provided by Tin Man's Heart, a husband and wife team, newly arrived at Sun Lakes. All seats, which have been limited to 80, are currently reserved. You may contact Provi at 845- 1601 for information and any available seating due to cancellations. The date is Fri., Dec. 4 at the South Clubhouse starting at 5:30 pm. Coffee and water will be available, or you may BYOB. The month of January will be dark and plans for the February meeting will be announced in the January edition of Lifestyles. Need more information regarding the Paisano Club? Also, if you are able to serve on the Paisano Board, call Judy Garthwaite at 797-3130. The Paisano Club, where everyone is welcome and all are considered friends! Paisano Club FEATURED CAR OF THE MONTH "You can never have too much horsepower," said Ron Glickman, so he's planning to super-charge his 2010 Infiniti G37S IPL, even though it's well-equipped with an upgraded intake, an upgraded exhaust, and was dyno-tuned by Stillen, a race car manufacturing company. One thing about the Infiniti that he likes is that "you don't step into it, you fall into it and it's all around you," he said. Since he was a kid in high school, Ron has loved cars. "I guess I've had about 35 cars in my life, so far," he said. His first car was a 1962 Chevy Monza that he got at age 18. He traded that one for a 1963 Pontiac Tempest Le Mans, but his favorite was a yellow Porsche 914 with an oxblood interior. "Now that was a car," he said. Ron grew up in the Gardena/Hawthorne area. In the Navy after high school, he worked in San Diego teaching line officers to navigate ships using large models in about three feet of water. He even had his own TV studio where he made naval training films. After 4 years in the Navy, he spent the rest of his working life in the wholesale plumbing supply business, retiring in Westminster after 25 years. Ron and Sandra, his wife of 28 years, have a son and a new grandchild in Portland, OR. They moved to Sun Lakes 3 years ago. "I love the feeling of security here", Sandra said, "and the sunrises and sunsets are spectacular." Sandra grew up in San Francisco, and worked as a nurse and a health services administrator, specializing in benefits interpretation and development, from which she just retired. She also taught nursing and health administration at the University of Phoenix. Ron loves the feeling of driving a car with power. "Sometimes I roll the windows down and just listen to the sounds of hot cars," he laughed.
