| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2015 | 41 Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes We have started our winter league and with 24 teams competing the competition promises to be tough. We have some new bowlers this year and I want to welcome you to our league. The challenge to be first will be tough but fair. We all have the handicap that makes every team competitive. If only one person on your team improves each week your team will be hard to beat. This is a fun league not a money league so let's have fun. For our new bowlers or for the bowler who needs to brush up on his or her game Canyon Lanes has a pro and a pro shop to help you with that. Even though it is very early in the season, as of the seventh week, What About 8 is in first place with 23 wins and only five losses. This would be Barbara Semic, Joe Emma, Sally Brown, and Warren Hollabaugh. Then in second place is Take Some Leave Some, with Jerry Schneider, Jim Allen, Ed Quirke, and Jim Ming. Bowlers must have a minimum of 21 games to be listed for high handicap game and series. As of this writing the Men Scratch Series is held by Andy Toro with a 702, High Series for the women is Marty Steggell with a 547, High Scratch Game for the men is held by Scott Waddell with a 268. Yvonne Wood holds high Scratch Game for the women with a 217. As you can see the competition is tough but we still have 27 weeks to go. Any team can move into first, any bowler can take over high game or series. Work hard, practice and a lesson could certainly help. Keep up the great bowling everyone. Remember this, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Sun Lakers & Friends Our season is underway and it looks like everyone is having a great time. We have a total of 18 teams participating in a 24-week season. Team handicap scores will be tracked from week 3 and individual handicap scores will be reported after a bowler has 21 weeks of bowling. Here are some early results: High Team Scratch Series goes to Shake Rattle and Roll (Edie Voekel, Jim Denton, Scott Waddell and George Thiel. The Team Scratch Game goes to team 6, Gerry's Kids (Lawanda and Ray Roberson, Gerry Sanches, and Dolph Mason). Men's' High Scratch Series goes to Scott Waddell with a 679. The Men's' High Scratch Game goes to Dolph Mason with a 233. Women's High Scratch Series goes to Sandy Elsworth with a 594. The Women's' High Scratch Game goes to Ida Nily with a 192. Keep up the good bowling and don't be surprised when your name appears in this article! See you on the lanes!
