| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2015 | 55 Friends we will miss Michael Leon Olivier, Mike passed away October 1, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Eva. Born in Manhattan, Kansas, he later joined the United States Navy as a young man. He moved to California in the 1960s and became a civil engineer, his chosen profession. Mike and Eva moved to Sun Lakes in 2000. His all time favorite pastimes were deep ocean fishing and live horse racing. He will be sorely missed. Curtis Edward Preston, 87 years young, passed away on October 10, 2015 in Los Angeles. Curtis was self-employed and most recently had lived in Banning for the past 22 years. He previously lived in Orange County. Curtis was a member of the Elks, Sun Lakes Bowling League and the Riverside Aristocrats Camping Club. He loved to visit Las Vegas and Laughlin and collect coins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Preston; sister Leatris Owens; and brothers, Jimmie and Bobbie. He is also survived by his wife Lois, of Banning; daughter, Janet Anderson, of Banning; son, David Preston, of Indio; brother, Kenneth Preston, of Banning, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Irene Susanna Schattner, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Withold. She is also survived by their children, Detlef (Laura), Frank (Jan), Nancy Kilar (Joseph) and six grandchildren, Ryan, Josh, Nathan, Cameron, Brett and Haley. Irene and Withold and their oldest son immigrated to the U.S. from Germany in 1956. She was rushed to the hospital as they landed, welcoming the birth of their second son that very day! They lived in Massachusetts for 34 years, Florida for 25 years and recently moved to Sun Lakes to be near family. We will miss her beautiful smile.
