Welcome to 2016! Been thinking about it? Now is the time to join the Sun Lakes Garden Club. Our membership fee is $15 per year. The Garden Club has monthly meetings in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom the second Wednesday of the month (unless noted with a date change). Our meetings start at 10 am. We first have a business meeting, then a break for refreshments. Each month we present a gardening program featuring different presenters. Questions about membership should be directed to Suzi Messick, 769-7945 or LaNelle Neet, 769-7947. The Garden Club has many different projects within the board. Our project implementors are many. Charity Research, researching deserving groups to receive a helping hand with their needs. Garden Club trips, Garden Tours every other year, decorating a golf cart for the 4th of July golf cart parade, gift bags made from the many soaps, lotions, shampoos, etc, that our members donate. We collect box tops for the schools, eyeglasses, old cell phones, small suitcases and stuffed animals. All are given to the groups that are serving those in need in our local area. Membership, the Penny Pines program, the Plant a Tree program, fruit pickers, monthly programs, publicity and See's Candies sales. We have two events a year, a Spring Event and a September Event. Then we have our Sunshine Chair and telephone and email chair. Each of these projects is implemented by a member or committee of the Garden Club. We even offer an excursion a few times a year. As you can see it takes a lot of people to organize and implement the many programs that the Sun Lakes Garden Club does in our community. Come join us and help us to help others and get some great gardening tips. The 2016 elected Executive Board of the Sun Lakes Garden Club are: Mary Ruygrok, President, Marla Henrich, Vice President, Jo Formino, Treasurer and Raelene Kretchman, Recording Secretary.
