| Sun lakeS lifeStyleS | JanuaRy 2016 | 41 Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. My wish for our league in 2016 is to have everyone enjoy bowling, and just have fun. As of this report the first place team is What About 8 with Barbara Semic, Joe Emma, Sally Brown, and Warren Hollabaugh. Second place is only one game back, held by Sweepers Creepers with Gail Stormes, Marlene Gartman, Larry Stormes, and Andy Toro. Season High Scores are as follows. For the Men, Andy Toro holds Scratch Series with a 707, For the Women Scratch Series is held by Gail Stormes with a 548. Rick Shanefelt holds scratch Game for the Men with a 278, Scratch Game for the Women is held by Jean Hernandez with a 224. Harry Taylor holds handicap Series for the Men with a 784, Handicap Series for the Women is held by Donna Leone with a 714. George Thiel holds handicap Game for the Men with a 290, Diana Reusch holds Handicap Game for the Women with a 262. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Sun Lakers & Friends Happy New Year Bowlers! Can you believe it is 2016? Where does the time go? We are well into our league and despite some difficult lane conditions at times I hope everyone is still having fun. A small correction from the December article, individual season high handicap scores will be reported after a bowler has 21 games (not weeks) of bowling. Team high handicap scores have been tracked from week three. So by the next article you will see the individual handicap scores. Here are some early results: High Team Scratch Series goes to Team 5, Shake Rattle and Roll (Edie Voekel, Jim Denton, Scott Waddell and George Thiel). The Team Scratch Game goes to team 1, Gimme An X (Dan & Teri Comerford, Larry "you're killing me" Stormes and Peggy Laurel). Men's' High Scratch Series goes to Andy Toro with a 714. The Men's High Scratch Game goes to "Lefty" Ken Smelker with a 258! Women's' High Scratch Series goes to Sandy Elsworth with a 594. The Women's' High Scratch Game goes to Amy Stilson with a 224. Keep up the good bowling and don't be surprised when your name appears in this article! Life is short, so smile and be happy. See you at Canyon Lanes. Home Again Bowling We have reached the one-third mark in our thirty-two week schedule. Currently in first place is Team Two - "No Strike Zone" Micki Elsing, Linda Costell, Mike Draney and Ken Elsing with 27 win points and 13 loss points leading Team Eleven, Al and Nancy Turner, by one and a half games. Nancy and Al Turner are currently bowling with two vacancy spots. Scoring seems to be slightly higher on Wednesdays over Monday for many of us that bowl both days. It has to be the lane conditions. We do seem to have epidemic proportions of "tenpinitis" on both days! We hear suggestions of "Go Brooklyn" or "Stay out of the pocket" often! It is odd that lanes one and two seem to be "hot" recently? Jim McCallum started with seven strikes in a row on the 16th for a 229 game. On the 25th Tom Keheley had a string of six strikes in his 245 game with a scratch series of 632 and handicap series of 773. His teammate, Bill Osretkar had three 200 plus games for a 626 series scratch and a 746 series with handicap! WOW! Watch out for the "KOZE's "Thats K for Keheley, O for Osretkar, Z for Betsy Zalewski and E for Dianne Everley. Home Again High Season Scores are: Women's high game scratch: Micki Elsing 189, Louise Deal 188, Lil McLean 186. Women's high handicap game: Lil McLean 267, Dottie Lucas 260, Louise Deal 254. Men's high game scratch: Tom Keheley 245, Bob McLean 228, Jim McCallum 223. Men's high handicap game: Tom Keheley 312, Al Turner 303, Jim McCallum 266. Women's high scratch series: Gail Daniello 488, Linda Costell 467, Dianne Everley 467. Women's handicap series: Nancy Turner 727, Dottie Lucas 721, Linda Costell 713. Men's high scratch series: Bob McLean 708, Tom Keheley 632, Bill Osretkar 626. Men's handicap series: Tom Keheley 773, Bill Osretkar 746, Al Kaminsky 741. Can you top these? We do have 20 more weeks! Let's have some fun trying! Best wishes for a healthy, happy 2016. We want to give special thanks to Jim McCallum who writes our news letters. It is much appreciated.
