52 | Sun lakeS lifeStyleS | JanuaRy 2016 | Robert Eicholtz, a 27 year resident of Sun Lakes Country Club, passed November 16, 2015, at age 86. For over 35 years Robert enjoyed a distinguished career as a teacher and high school principal in Whittier, CA, including a visit from then-president Ronald Reagan in 1983 at Pioneer High School to personally present an Excellence in Education award to Robert and the school (a CNN interview with Robert can be viewed on-line at "1983 Ronald Reagan Visits California High School"). Upon retirement, Robert and his recently deceased wife of 65 years, Beverly, moved to Sun Lakes where they made many life-long friends and, in keeping with their zest for life, engaged in all that Sun Lakes had to offer, including numerous activities, clubs and RV excursions. Robert's daughter, Pamela Costanza, says her Dad loved life, laughter and people. "He was fun, non-judgmental and a good listener, says Pamela. "He truly believed that every human being had value and potential. I never met an individual who did not respect and adore him." Robert is survived by four children, Gregg, Glenn and Linda Eicholtz, Pamela Costanza and three grandchildren. A celebration of life luncheon will be held Sunday, January 17, at 12 noon, in the Sun Lakes Country Club Main Clubhouse Ballroom. All friends are welcome. Leland "Lee" Boger, 90, passed away Sept. 25 at The Lakes in Banning. Lee was born in Indiana April 24, 1925, the oldest of 10 children. At the onset on WWII, he left school to enlist in the Army and served in Europe on the third armor division under General Patton, and later in occupied Japan. Upon retiring from the army, Lee found a second career with the U.S. Post Office. Lee spent more than 10 happy years of retirement at Sun Lakes, and could be found every afternoon greeting friends and neighbors in the lounge. Those who knew him well, knew he was a kind and generous man. He will be sorely missed. A private military service was held Nov. 13 at the Sacramento Valley Veteran's Cemetery, attended by his sisters Geraldine Coleman of Vallejo, CA, Rosetta Robling of Lynnville, Indiana, and Beverly Briggerman of Washington, Indiana and nieces, Sandra Lynn Mannell and Karen Sue Newton and nephew Mark Warren Coleman. He and Dolly then moved to Sun Lakes and lived a happy, contented and active life at Sun Lakes for 25 years. Jack amazingly won 15 golf club championships at Sun Lakes. He thoroughly enjoyed weekly golf with his buddies who will miss him. Jack will be remembered by his friendly nature and his ability to spread cheer wherever he went.
