FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2016 25 Senior Transportation Assistance Interest Group The New Year has arrived bringing hope for our efforts to bring convenient and economic transportation to all those 65 and older. We hope that the senior citizens of Four Seasons will be our support group by attending the T-Now (Transportation Now) meetings. T-Now is the citizens' group sponsored by the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) to support public transportation. T-Now meets the first Thursday of every month and lunch is provided. The RTA needs to know that our seniors are interested in more convenient and economic transportation. Please call Brenda or Richard Teeman at (909) 594-8487 to volunteer to attend – whether once or all 12 times a year. We need you. Another important thing is for you to fill out our Transportation Survey, available at the Lodge. Put your comments at the bottom to make your needs for now and the future known. The form is also available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/passtransitseniors. These surveys are so important that we are having them printed up in quantity and presented at all club meetings in Four Seasons and every other senior community in the Pass. We will not have any progress on our senior transportation issues without a large return of the forms. Attending T-Now meetings is the best way to have our voices heard. Please help by attending and get in on the ground floor of having a say in the growth of our senior community transportation. ~ Brenda and Richard Teeman Our group meets in the Lodge Ballroom and is free to attend. Desert Boogie is a place to dance with or without shoes; however you like, with or without a partner, to a wide variety of music. All ages are welcome; a supervising adult must accompany children. We recommend casual, lightweight, comfortable clothing that you can easily move in. A "warm-up" period from 5:30 to 5:50 pm is designed for stretching or finishing your meal. Dance music will play from 5:50 to 8:30 pm This year, we meet April 29, May 20, June 3, July 15 and Aug. 19. As mentioned, we play a variety of music. Our DJ's goal is to please everyone and keep the dance floor jumping with an evening full of wonderful beats, tempos and melodies to move your body. While the music is predominately from this millennium, multiple decades are represented. Expect to hear unfamiliar music along with an occasional old favorite or an updated version of an old favorite. As an example, the preliminary playlist for January represents music from five continents, six decades, 24 countries, and 33 genres. For many decades David J. Brown a/k/a DJ Brown was a DJ playing monthly at a weekly dance in the Boston area. Since relocating to California, he has played at dances in Lake Arrowhead and Ventura. ~ David Brown. Desert Boogie Interest Group English as a Second Language Class Interest Group Do you want to improve your English skills; or do you know someone who wants to? The class is expected to start in the middle of this month and continue until April or May, depending on student preference. We will meet for 1-1/2 hours one day per week.
