The perspective of the Artist of the Month Thomas Herron: A Journey With Many Miles To Go Prior to meeting Rob Kelman, I always thought of my drawings as nice pictures. He taught me to appreciate what I draw, which led me to appreciate the work of my fellow artists, all of whom have inspired me to reach the karma I now enjoy. Frequently Rob reminds me my drawings reflect the many years I have spent within the engineering profession. He explains they display an abundance of fine detail and precise accuracy as well as tell a story. The Zebra is probably my favorite wild animal, and the drawing which I call "The Crossing" depicts an animal prepared to wade across a river which most likely is infested with predators. That is how I see my fellow artists, especially those who may never have put pencil to paper for decades. They stride into the river with their first drawing which is usually an elephant, and emerge unharmed at the other side. If you are capable of writing words on paper, which is the first basic step to drawing, then drawing an elephant should not be a daunting task. The artists under the guidance of Rob will support you. I am sure the pleasure you will achieve sharing your first drawing with us will ensure your progress to new heights. Come join us and start your own journey into the world of art with other encouraging artists and an insightful instructor. Classes are Mondays 10 am to 12 noon and/or Wednesdays 6 to 8 pm. If you have any questions call Rob Kelman (951) 992-9156 or cell (602) 571-0414. ~ Rob Kelman FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2016 35 LGBS will resume meetings at the Lodge Ballroom on Tuesday, Jan. 12 from 7 to 8 pm. Doc Sellars will be facilitating a six week bible study series on The Holy Spirit. We will primarily focus our attention on the Book of Acts, and the apostle Paul's teachings on the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is our hope that we can develop a fresh understanding of the role of the Third Person of the Trinity in our Christian lives. We strongly encourage participation so that we can learn from each other. ALL are welcome! Please contact Doc or Letha Sellars at (951) 797-3302 or docletha72@gmail.com with any questions or comments. Blessings in Christ! ~ Doc Sellars Life Guide Bible Study Wow! It's hard to believe, but we are now beginning our third year of "Believeā¦" Women's Bible Study This is such an amazing group of Godly women. And we are growing, not only spiritually and in friendships, but in numbers as well. What a blessing. In January we began our new 2016 outline by discussing "A Godly Woman is Healthy." We discussed what the Bible does and does not say about nutrition, how important it is to exercise and drink sufficient water, get a good dose of sunshine and fresh air, get plenty of rest and how spirituality plays a crucial role in overall health. We are implementing several new groups (intercessory prayer, discussion, etc.), and the women have all volunteered to join one or more, and to help where needed. As I said, this is an amazing group of wonderful women. If you have been curious how this study might be beneficial to your life, please drop in and visit us. We would welcome you with open hearts and arms, and hope you would stay and become part of the group. This is a non-denominational study of any translation of the Bible, there is no homework (although a list of scriptures is given the week before, so each woman would have time to review them before the lesson), there are wonderful discussions, and hopefully each woman leaves uplifted and spiritually energized. We meet every Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the first section of the Ballroom.
