Entertainment and dance music by the popular Skyline Xpress band. This event includes a full dinner and some exceptionally unique and special prizes. See the poster in the Lodge for more details or call our club captains. This event sells out quickly, so make a date now and enjoy a nice Valentine's. There were over 150 guests at our Christmas Dinner Dance, and along with good food, music and dancing, we were treated to some very special entertainment. With choreography and guidance from our professional dance instructor Cindy, and lots of practice, 12 of our club members presented a graceful and beautifully executed Formation Waltz. Bravo! We are now doing the Foxtrot, which has nothing to do with trotting foxes! The dance originated in 1914 by Vaudeville actor Harry Fox, born in Pomona, California. As part of his act, Harry "trotted" to ragtime music, which people then called "Fox's Trot." Today, Foxtrot is done in a slow, smooth, syncopated rhythm, which is Social Dancing at its best – good for weddings, cruises, parties or just about anywhere. Interested? Come on Monday nights to our Ballroom and give it a try. Now that the New Year is underway, we are reviewing our well known dances before learning new ones. Most of us feel rusty after so many weeks off. Luckily, our feet remember the dances once we do a quick review. New dancers are always welcome and the beginner's class is taught more slowly, one step at a time, so you can learn the basic dances. A big thank you to the more advanced dancers that step in to assist when they see someone having trouble mastering a step. If you have ever considered trying line dancing, please stop by and give it a whirl. If you feel you are not sure, just stop by and watch. You will find a group of very friendly people who have a lot of fun and always welcome newcomers. Join us in the Ballroom any Tuesday afternoon at 3 pm for beginners or 3:45 pm for the advanced group. ~ Martha Franck Line Dancing Our Fabulous Formation Waltz dancers, with instructor Cindy Finley in the middle Ballroom dancing is just knowing a few good steps and routines and having lots of fun
