| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2016 | 43 Table Tennis/Ping Pong Good exercise! A fun activity! Great people! That's what you'll find with us. Haven't played since you were a kid? Doesn't matter… we have players of all skill levels. We play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 - 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am - 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). See the Events Board across from the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk for more information. You can also check on-line at www. sunlakescc.com and click on "Recreation" then click on "Classes," and finally click on "Table Tennis Group." Laced tennis shoes required — no exceptions! Info., Neil, 845-5688 or Bruno, 797-0357. Have you looked at the bulletin board lately? It contains all kinds of information. Need a phone number? They're all on the backside of the board. Need a sub? They are listed on the front. Need to call a ref? They're listed on the back along with the names and numbers on the bocce board. So many times we hear, "Oh, I don't have his/her number" when someone doesn't show up on time. Teams, players, and phone numbers are all there. It's amazing how few people have even noticed. Also, the schedule for all of 2016 is on the backside of the bocce shed. Take a look! The Spring Tournament begins the week of March 21. Entries must be in by March 11 at 5 pm. If your team didn't play the Winter Tournament, you need to fill out a new card( found in the shed), even if your team is the same as last year. If your team is new to bocce, you, of course, need to fill out the card also. Fill the card out in pencil, please! Take the card and $60 in an envelope (that's $12 dues pp and $3 pp team fee) to 1288 Pleasant Valley. There is a box at the door. Some of you have already paid your dues, even though you didn't play the Winter Tournament. They don't have to be paid again! Adjust the monies accordingly. If your team played the Winter Tournament, you've already paid your yearly dues and need only pay the team fee($12 per team/$3 pp). You don't need to fill out another card. Be sure to put your names on the outside of the envelope, indicate which day you wish to play and give us a second choice, please! It's probable that we will, again, add Thursday to the schedule as we did last fall. Please make it one of your choices if at all possible! Playing time will go to 3, 4, 5 and 6 pm — our effort to deal with our capricious weather! We do some of our communicating with members during the tournaments via email. If you have an email address, but are not receiving our memos, please include your email addresses, with your names, on the outside of the envelope, especially if you're new to the club. Info., Dutch, 845-0392. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce SLCC's Activities Day in January was a big success, drawing hundreds of residents to sample the numerous clubs and organizations. Eighteen people signed up to learn more about one of America's fastest-growing sports (over two million players and growing) and we will schedule clinics to introduce them and others to our game. Sun Lakers have participated in several tournaments around the Southland in recent months, from Carlsbad and Escondido to Palm Desert and La Quinta. The sport is booming and active adult communities are increasing the number of courts. Our club welcomes "newbies" anytime (equipment provided). Our prime times are Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Saturday 8 to 10 am. Call Royce Newman, 951-809-2303 or Hank Huisman, 712-540-0864 to learn about clinics and other times to try Pickleball. See you on the courts! Pickleball Club
