The month of March has arrived with the promise of spring and new beginnings for all to enjoy. Speaking of new beginnings, have you given thought to learning or brushing up the intriguing game of bridge? May we offer a bit of advice, there are excellent forms of books available and would like to suggest the author Audrey Grant and her series of bridge books, plus the Internet or also consider professional lessons with a knowledgeable instructor. The members of the Original Monday Bridge Club extend an invitation to you to join us for the pleasure of your company to experience the challenging game of bridge. We gather in the Library of the RCN building at 12 noon with those dedicated to playing to the best of their ability and adherence to ACBL rules. Congrats to Sue and Helen in January and Gordon and Helen in February for their successful Grand Slam of seven no trump! For more information please call Helen at (951) 845-9312. ~ Helen Shoemate-Gurley Canasta #1 Join us for an afternoon of friendship and fun while playing a game of Hand and Foot Canasta. We meet in the Card Room Thursdays, 1 to 4 pm. Each week you may play with someone different, giving you an opportunity to meet other Four Seasons residents and old friends who enjoy an afternoon of "cool" cards. We supply the cards so all you have to bring is your body and the desire to have a little fun. If you don't know how to play we are always happy to set up a teaching table and by the time the afternoon is over you will have mastered the game. All you have to do is show up and leave the rest to us. ~ Melody Seewoster Bunco This month we will be playing Bunco on the 11th and the 25th. Remember, we always play on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. If you have never played with us come on out and give it a try. We have a lot of fun and you will meet some very nice ladies. We play in the card room at 1 pm sharp. Don't forget to grab a drink or maybe lunch at Smitty's beforehand. See you there. ~ Cheryl Burke Mah Jongg Everybody is welcome to join us for Mah Jongg at 12:30 pm on Mondays in the 1528 Building. We accept beginners and offer coaching for those who have not played in several years. A current Mah Jongg card is required but you can borrow or copy one until you get your own. You do not have to own a Mah Jongg set to join the fun, so come on out! ~ Barbara Goodreau Pinochle Pinochle is an exciting card game where you bid and bluff to name trump and take control of the game. This game is played with a double deck of special cards of ace through 10 against other aficionados, to tease your mind, and keep you sharp. Come join the game on Wednesday and Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm in the Card Room. Newbies and oldies are welcome for fun and socializing. Info., George Soeten, (951) 797-0254. ~ George Soeten We are looking for players, substitute players, and people who are interested in learning the game. I am happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn the game, either individually or in a small group, your home or mine. Pan is a card game, much on the order of gin in some respects, and played with up to eight people at a table. It is played by both men and women, so men are very welcome as well as women. The game can be played in the day, evening, in a room in the Lodge or in private homes. If you are interested, please call me, Linda Mendelson, at (951) 941-9100 or email me at Goldtoy@earthlink.net and I will answer any questions you may have. As all card games, it is played with both skill and luck. ~ Linda Mendelson Pan 38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2016 Bridge for Fun Bridge Bridge for Fun meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 12 noon sharp. Both groups have been working on computerized scoring and have great systems set up. We now have a coffee bar set up (Lylia) for the Wednesday group. Feel free to bring treats and your own mug or your donation of plastic cups and coffee for the group. We thank the Lodge staff for their help in this set up. We had five tables of bridge recently and enjoyed our friends. We play in a party bridge format rotating tables and partners. We encourage pre-discussion of your conventions with each partner before the play. Both of our fallen players are back to bridge with swift recovery. It's good to see them. Monday info., Bill Guy (951) 845-5627; Wednesday info., Verina Rector (951) 769-1687 or Phil Irving (760) 447-0007; Duplicate info., Halley (760) 898-3215. ~ Dr. Phil We are enjoying continued success at ACBL Sanctions Duplicate Bridge Club each Friday afternoon at 12:15 pm in the Recreation Center North building. If you are a duplicate bridge player and would like to participate in this sanctioned game and would like to get Master Points call the director Barbara, for reservations at (951) 530-1523. We encourage new members to come and enjoy the challenging game of duplicate bridge.
