FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2016 47
Mary Ann Diehl entered the final of the 8-Ball in-house tournament undefeated
this month, which is a recognizable feat since there was a field of 13 players in the
match. Larry Rice suffered a single defeat during regular play and it was necessary
for him to win against Mary Ann twice in the finals to secure the championship for
the month. Larry ran six balls in game one and went on to win the battle and thus the
championship.
One of our newest members, Brian Anderson, was also undefeated during 9-Ball
action but was pitted against Dewey Allen for the final. Dewey had suffered an earlier
loss to Joe Aviles but came up to the final and defeated Brian twice for that championship.
Congratulations to all players and especially to Larry Rice and Dewey Allen.
In other 8-Ball Club news: starting this month there are a couple of notes for 8 Ball
Club members.
First of all, to avoid those circumstances where we could have both a "traveling
tournament with Hemet" and an in-house tournament in the same week. The in-house
tournaments will be held during the week following a Hemet tournament, never the
same week.
The second announcement is regarding the Hemet Tournament. We will now be
fielding five teams; each team of two will play five games. Teams will be made up of
all qualified members and consist of two players at the discretion of the club captain.
Obviously this means if we have more than 10 qualified members, each member may
not play all five games, but all qualified players will play.
