19 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2016 | Here we are in March already! Many activities have been happening with Team Sunshine as we spread our "shine" around our neighborhoods. Our 90+ Birthday Party is still etched in the minds of us all. How much fun we had basking in this celebratory event. Trish Egan did an exemplary job planning this memorable birthday celebration and deserves recognition for making the day so very special. She certainly was the cherry on top of our birthday cake! The end of January found us planning Celebrations of Life for a number of our residents. We spend so much time, effort and energy planning our weddings, birthdays and anniversary parties, yet those of us in Team Sunshine understand that one of the most crucial pieces of our service is our Celebrations of Life. Team Sunshine, with heavy hearts, take seriously our role as legacy managers. We hold tightly to our memories of Maxine Schilla, Barry O'Brien, Jay Robinson, Alan Jaffe, Shirley Kendrick and Marion Nasser. We offer our prayers and condolences to all their families and friends. Some celebrations were handled by family members and others asked for Team Sunshine assistance. We are privileged to be of service to this community. Team Sunshine invites you to visit our community Plaza where you can view the lovely memorial bench that was dedicated in the memory of our dear Scotty Singer. We wish to thank all who made this lovely contribution to our community possible. Additional kudos go to Rick Ruth (General Manager, FirstService Residential) and Hal Townend, (President of the Board of Directors), for their support and assistance to Team Sunshine, as we accommodate those wishing to place a memorial for a loved one in our community. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's/Dementia can be frightening for those affected by this syndrome, their family members, and caretakers. Learning more about Alzheimer's/Dementia can help. Our presentation by Jane Farmer on this subject was informative and reassuring to program attendees. It was encouraging to have an expert like Jane Farmer share her knowledge with us and offer various avenues to choose from in the event anyone we love faces such a debilitating disease. On March 16 at 3 pm in the Ballroom our program presenter is John Harsany, Jr., M.D. He will further our knowledge on medical challenges for seniors as he offers a presentation on Chronic Pain and Medication Addiction. Chronic pain can affect patients in various ways and has a major impact on the quality of a patient's life. Please plan to attend. Lastly, we are so excited to introduce a new program that Team Sunshine has introduced to our community. Our program is entitled, "Kindness." You might be asking yourself, "What are they talking about?" Well, let's face it. We live in a world that is complicated and filled with problems. We are faced with so much that is wrong that our shine is often overshadowed. So, Team Sunshine wants to help place a little shine back into all of our lives by emphasizing the good that goes on around us each and every day! So, we are asking for your help. If you observe someone in the community who has gone above and beyond a simple act of kindness, please fill out a kindness card and nominate that individual for a kindness certificate. Kindness certificates will be presented from time to time to our unexpected recipients. LaDean Hatcher will be our kindness leader. You may pick up your kindness form at the front desk or from LaDean. Let's all spread a little sunshine. "Speaking kind words starts a wave of love in motion that brings more love upon your shores." -- Book of Truths Team Sunshine HELP! Team Sunshine is looking for speakers for our monthly programs. If you know of someone who has a topic to offer our community, please leave their information at the front desk addressed to Team Sunshine Programs and we will pick it up.
