| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2016 | 28 Tennis Friends Tennis Friends Travel and Play: Note that some of us walk, hike, bike, swim, and zumba to keep in shape. Witness the above pictures taken from the Maze Stone bike and hiking trip, just a short distance from Hemet Four Seasons. This round-trip bike ride and hike of 7 miles was a blast and a great way to keep in shape. Those who enjoyed the trip were Trish Egan, Judy Baily, Chuck Sims, Hortencia Roesler, Carol Ferber, and Sue Adkins. After all, tennis is a running sport! February means that spring is coming. It is not too late to talk about the BNP Parabas Championships March 7 through 20. Several of our players get together for Day Trips to see the world wide players and the fabulous new facilities at Indian Wells. So talk it up. We are a social group, are we not? Our challenges for next year are to have more fun, improve our games, and welcome the Sun. Among the events we are keeping in shape for are: the Fall Club Championships, Oldlympics, and Wednesday night mixed up doubles. See you at court. We have several tennis events weekly here at Four Seasons. Mornings, all week, Wednesday night drills at 6:59 pm; followed by mixed up doubles at 8 pm. Interestingly enough, each event includes socializing and talking over the upcoming events available in the community. NEWCOMERS ALWAYS WELCOME. Beginners: please start on Wednesday nights with Chuck's lessons. You can just drop in to any of these events or check with Tracy Trousset, Trish Egan, or Chuck Sims. Furthermore, several of our members are familiar with tennis around the So Cal area so if you have questions let us know. Go play. Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY) Regular physical activity is not only fun and healthy, but scientific evidence strongly shows that it's safe for almost everyone. And the health benefits far outweigh the risk of injury and sudden heart attacks, two concerns that prevent many people from adding more physical activity to their lives. However, some people should check with their doctor before they start becoming more physically active. Experts advise that if you have a chronic disease, such as a heart condition, arthritis, diabetes, or high blood pressure, or symptoms that could be due to a chronic disease, it's important that you're under the care of a doctor and talk to him or her about the types and amounts of physical activity that are appropriate for you. If you don't strength train now, come join the fun. We are a very social group. We enjoy this time together and laughter abounds in the class and in the Bistro (coffee break). It's free too! Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 am in the Lodge Ballroom. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at 765-7112, Char Weakley at 926-2599, or Joyce Kerns at 325-8840. Table Tennis The Health Benefits of Table Tennis Table Tennis is The World's Best Brain Sport! As well as being good physical exercise, table tennis also provides a great mental work out. You plan strategies and decide what spin to put on the ball, whilst trying to stay one step ahead of your opponent and react to the shots they are playing all at the same time. Decisions are made in split seconds, increasing concentration levels, short term memory and decision making ability. All this mental exercise boosts hormone levels and keeps the brain young, which can slow the progress of cognitive decline that occurs with aging. http://tabletennis-reviews.com We play on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3 until about 5 pm. And everyone is invited to join us. All levels of play.
