With only six weeks left, it's a race to the finish! Here are the results as of March 2: High Team Scratch Series goes to Team 18, Outa' Range (Dolph Mason, Larry Stormes, Richard Shanefeld and Andy Toro) with a 2357. The High Team Scratch Game goes to Team 16, 4 Of Us (Lillie Lawaetz, Peggy Laurel, Sandy Hepburn and George Thiel) with a 778. There were no changes in the individual season high scratch and handicap stats since the last article. But, any of us are capable of taking over these honors on any day. So keep on rolling. Our last day of bowling will be our sweeps on April 13. Cost is $5. Our awards luncheon will be held at the South Clubhouse on April 15 (Friday) at 11:30 am. This will be a full-catered meal with Hawaiian chicken, tri-tip, garden salad, green beans, Hawaiian sweet bread and chocolate éclairs for dessert. Cost is $13.50 pp. If you are planning to bowl in the Wednesday summer league, please let our secretary know ASAP. Summer bowling dates are May 11 through Aug 17. This article reflects the results as of Feb. 23. Team 4, BiPolar Rollers, (Carol and Larry Ellis, Sally Fresher and Sandy Hepburn) have taken over first place from Team 16-Alley Gators. With only a few weeks left to bowl it is sure to be a great race to the finish. Here are the results as of Feb. 23: High Team Scratch Series goes to Team 11, 4 Play (Mitzi Taniguchi, Gaylord Spence, Bud Miner and Ken Smelker) with a 2222. The High Team Scratch Game goes to Team 1, Gimme an X (Teri & Dan Comerford, Peggy Laurel and Larry Stormes) with a 785. Men's' High Scratch Series goes to "lefty" Ken Smelker with a 775. The Men's' High Scratch Game goes to Andy Toro with a 288. Women's' High Scratch Series goes to Sandy Elsworth with a 599. The Women's' High Scratch Game goes to Peggy Laurel with a 232. The High Handicap results: Men's High Handicap Series goes to Gaylord Spence with a 766. Sandy Hepburn holds the Men's High Handicap Game with a 305. Joan Allen holds the Women's High Handicap Series with a 728. The High Handicap game goes to Salle Flesher with a 280. Great job everyone! Our league doesn't bowl in the summer, but if you are interested in summer bowling there are leagues on Monday and Wednesday. Just contact our secretary, Teri Comerford at 760-217-9656. "Bowling- you can get 3 strikes, and you're not out" Home Again Bowling We are coming down to the final weeks of our league season. Team 5 "Dolls and Balls" are leading the pack with eight weeks to go. This team of non-Sun Lakes residents are Kathy Snider, Ben Snider, Teri McLean and Tony McLean. At the conclusion of 24 weeks, three members of this team are in the list of most improved bowlers. The list currently shows men with Rick Waters +15.16. Bud Fowler +13.26 and Ben Snider +12.89. Womens most improved - Dottie Lucas +10.10, Kathy Snider 8.45, Teri McLean +7.92. They must be practicing or Tony McLean is a great coach! He does wear a "Super Man" shirt! Next in line is team 11 "No Name" with Al and Nancy Turner and Beverly Barrette -plus a vacant. Third place team is "No Strike Zone" with Micki Elsing, Linda Costell, Mike Draney and Ken Elsing. They are still close enough to catch the leaders. The rest of us are "sand bagging" for sweepstakes. High scores for the past four weeks are: Women's high scratch games: Louise Deal 201,Sue Sloan 199, Lil McLean 191. Women's high scratch series: Louise Deal 530, Micki Elsing 468, Dianne Everley 463. Men's high scratch games: Frank Mashburn 266 and 254, Bill Osretkar 238 and Bob McLean 232. Men's high scratch series: Frank Mashburn 697, Bill Osretkar 666, Rick Waters 630. Women's high handicap games: Louise Deal 274, Lil McLean 272, Sue Sloan 264. Women's high handicap series: Louise Deal 749, Kathy Snider 706, Karol Petty 702, Dianne Everley 700. Men's high handicap games: Ben Snider 291, Bill Osretkar 282, Frank Mashburn 278. Men's high handicap series: Bill Osretkar 798, Ben Snider 773, Ted Bolden 758. Lets keep them rolling and enjoy the friendly competition! It's only a game and it certainly beats housework. This writer asks a big favor: please fill out the weekly score sheets.
