20 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2016 | Thanks to everyone who came to the March book sale and supported the Library Committee! It was a great success and the proceeds help improve our libraries even further. We enjoyed seeing each one of you, and having many discussions about your favorite books, subjects, and authors. There is a diverse reading community at Sun Lakes and our libraries provide us not only with the pleasure of being swept up in imaginative tales and characters, but a place to sit and chat with fellow readers. The libraries would not be what they are without our many volunteers. Thanks to each one of you who helps! You add to the value of our community. We also want to thank all those who donated books. Our next book sale will be held in July. We hope to see you all there. It is truly a highlight of my day when I meet a Sun Laker at the library, be it the main, north, or south library, and find out about their reading, and so often, life interests. We start discussing books and move on to families, travel, and current events. As seniors, these discussions are a way to stretch and exercise our minds. I guess what I'm trying to say is that reading is good for you and if you enjoy talking about the books you've read, don't miss out on the many book clubs in Sun Lakes or in our nearby communities. Some book clubs focus on sharing life experiences or current events. Some deal with romances, historical fiction, or biographies. Some are faith based; your church may have a book club. These clubs are a wonderful way to share your love of books and your ideas. People are always asking us about how to contact these groups. As a result, the Library Committee would like to become a conduit for sharing info about book clubs in the area. Certainly new residents would like to find out about these opportunities. Please email me at sunlakesdoug@gmail.com to add your book club to my list, or if you are a resident who wants to find a book club. Finally, we are still asking for donations of audiobooks for our collection in the south library. This addition of CD-based titles has been quite a success. Our plan is to expand the selections, so please help us. If you have finished with an audiobook(s), please leave it in one of the wooden boxes at each library so that others can enjoy it as well.
