| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2016 | 18 Art League Thank you, Mary Bowe, for all of your efforts in creating the Spring Extravaganza on March 17! Demonstrations on how to use Photoshop and Spoonflower techniques to transform images from your imagination into beautiful items from gifts to wearable art were presented. Our upcoming events include a demonstration on March 31 by Dr. Vernita Black who will have a workshop on "Art Therapy Through Coloring" at 1 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room. There is a $10 fee for the workshop plus $3 for materials. For more information on this workshop, please contact Dr. Black at (760) 519-6787. On Sat., April 16, the Art league will sponsor a spring version of the Fine Art Show in the Ballroom. Come and enjoy the works of our very talented artists in this community. Our monthly brief meeting and demonstration with Maggie Aguirre on weaving with a loom will be held on Thurs., April 21 at 1 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room. Ongoing classes and some upcoming workshops are posted in the Arts and Crafts Room. Please use the sign-up sheets if you are interested in joining any of these events. We need your help! There will be two positions opening up starting on June 1: those of chair and secretary. The Art League currently has over 80 members and we need people to serve in these positions until May 31, 2017. Barbara Seder has graciously accepted the role of treasurer for the next year. Barbara Kenyon will continue on as co-chair for the league. Please contact Nancy Hawkins, chair, if you have any questions about these positions or if you are interested in filling either of these positions (nhawk2blue@aol.com). Nancy will continue to be in charge of the gallery wall and display case in the Lodge. Thank you, Nancy, for all of your hard work over the past two years! Come and enjoy the students' artworks in the Student Art Show during the months of March and April. Our Featured Artist: Lois Stipp My husband Kevin and I moved to Hemet Four Seasons approximately 13 years ago. I have taught drawing and painting here for about 12 of those years. It has been a real blessing for me. We have many talented neighbors and friends. I have been the president for the Diamond Valley Arts Council for some 11 years. DVAC is a wonderful non-profit that promotes the arts (visual, music and theater) in our valley. It is located on Harvard St. in downtown Hemet. (TheDvac.org) I spend five months of the year on Beaver Island in Northern Michigan where I teach and own two Art Galleries. More information can be found at BeaverIslandStudio.com My artist statement is simple. I enjoy painting and creating a "moment" on canvas that touches another person's life. Like most artists, I remain a lifelong student of my trade. Creating, learning and sharing are the essential parts of the process. Paintings by artist of the month Lois Stipp
