27 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2016 | From the President – Dave Cometa: Congratulations to our 2016 Presidents Cup Match Play winners. These candidates, I mean players, have campaigned, I mean played hard to win your vote, I mean their matches, this year. These Democrats and Republicans, I mean right handed and left handed players, have fought through the name calling and mud slinging, I mean the missed putts and balls hit out of bounds, to become the winner in their party, I mean their flights. So, congratulations to Madam President May Chabros, winner of the "D" Flight, Mr. President Bill Tripp, winner of the "C" Flight, Mr. President Don Sims, winner of the "B" Flight and Mr. President Gerry Edmonds, winner of the "A" Flight. You all ran great campaigns, I mean played great, and I know you will represent our club well. Above is a picture of just a few of our members in the Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club. We have 155 members and I believe we are the largest social club in Four Seasons and I would argue that we also have the most fun too. So if you are not a member, I ask why not? With Golfing, barbecue, award banquets and good old fellowship and fun with your fellow Four Seasons neighbors, it just doesn't get any better than that! So come on, go to the Lodge and pick up an application and join us every Tuesday on the course. From the Tournament Chair – Addis Scott: Please note, in April we move to our summer shotgun start time of 7:30 am, with a check-in by 7:15. To play in our Tuesday games, you may sign up at our prior Tuesday golf event, or contact the Tournament Committee by email at hemet4sgc@gmail.com. Our April 2016 Game Schedule is: • 4/5, 7:30 am (T) – Low Net and/or Low Gross – Post as Tournament • 4/12, 7:30 am Balanced Mixed Flight Teams – Two Best Net Scores Per Hole • 4/19, 7:30 am Partner Scramble – Handicap = 50 percent of Partners' Total Handicap • 4/26, 7:30 am Individual – Best 9 Net Scores and/or Optional LG/LN From the Membership Chair – Elliot Yaeger Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club welcomes our newest member Jay Craney. We now have 155 members and it is not too late to join. Membership is $63, which includes membership to the SCGA. Applications are available at The Lodge. Complete the application and return it with a check for $63 payable to Hemet 4 Seasons Golf Club. We will take care of membership to the SCGA. From the Handicap Chair – Lynn Smith: All score corrections must go through the club's handicap chair. An edit or deletion of a score will not automatically change a member's current or previous handicap index. For example, a player posts an incorrect score on Feb. 3 but didn't notice the mistake until Feb.17. The handicap chair may correct the error but does not have the means to go back and correct the calculation of the Feb.15 handicap index. This can only be done if the chair contacts the SCGA Handicap Department, and only the last four revisions or two months may be corrected. Also, if a member posts an incorrect score on Feb. 3 and notices the error on the 13, the Handicap Chair should make the score correction prior to the revision on the 15th. From the Rules Chair – Tom Johnson: If you have been playing on Tuesdays, you should have received a copy of the new "Rules of Golf " book. Please take time to read the "Quick Guide to the Rules of Golf " (pgs. 18-25). This will give you a basic understanding of the rules, or for those who feel they have a good understanding, a good review with the changes that have occurred. The section called "Etiquette" (pgs. 26-28) will help if you want to feel knowledgeable about what is considered the correct way to play. Knowing the rules can help you. Consider the following myth: When your ball, stance or swing is interfered with by a cart path (immovable obstruction), you always take relief on the side farthest away from the hole. Fact: you get relief at the nearest point of relief, which is no closer to the hole, which may be on either side of the cart path. The rules require us to proceed in a certain way, but a thorough knowledge of the rules may make you aware of options that can help you. It will also help you avoid incurring a penalty for not following the rules. The Four Seasons Golf Club
