CERT IS LOOKING FOR BIKE RIDERS If you are a bike rider (or want to be) and would like to help our community during an
emergency, then OHCC Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is looking for you.
During an emergency, it is critical for CERT to assess the damage and need for assistance as soon as possible. This information is needed
by the city's Emergency Operations Center and OHCC Command Post to develop response plans and deploy resources. To help cover the 350
acres, five plus miles of roads and 1,632 homes here at OHCC, CERT is organized into three area tactical teams and a medical team. However,
with the possibility of roads being damaged making the initial and follow-up assessments by car impossible, and the alternative by foot
too time consuming, we have formed a unit that can do this task, and others, by bicycle. Riders will be equipped with radios to facilitate
communications between unit members and command centers.
The CERT Bicycle Unit is a unique and important part of the emergency response plans for OHCC… but when we're not preparing for or
responding to an emergency, we'll also have time for some fun rides. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Bob at (760) 295-5873
or email bobztoy@gmail.com. ~ Bob Becker, Unit Leader
