| OCEAN HILLS NEWS | APRIL 2016 |27 Ellen Kippel, President, reported that the club was very pleased with the response to the San Diego Humane Society's second Senior Adoption Event, held here Feb. 12. Three very senior dogs were brought here, and one was adopted. About 25 residents brought their dogs for shots, microchipping and licensing. PLC would like to express its gratitude to members of the Photography Club, who took fine quality pictures of owners and their pets at the event. Owners may pick up their photos from the PLC folder at the Front Desk. There are two separate envelopes of photos, taken by two different people. If you do not like the way the pictures came out, the Photography Club is willing to re-take the pictures for you, at no cost. Pictures will also be posted on the PLC website. Ellen Kippel reports that we have 213 members enrolled this year. She says that about 36 people who were members last year have not yet re-joined, and have not notified her whether they will be re- joining this year. She would appreciate hearing from them whether or not they will be re-joining this year. She also extends an invitation to all the new pet owners in the community to join the club and get to know other great lovers of pets. Among the benefits are helping find their lost pets, locating owners of pets running loose in the community, and finding homes for pets whose owners can no longer keep them. Newcomers to the community are reminded that their dogs should have ID tags and licenses, and that their pets should not be allowed outside the owners' property without a leash. Leashes need to be no longer than six feet. Retractable leashes are not to be used because of the danger that a longer leash may trip another person or tangle with the leash of another dog. Ellen reminds us that the next PLC Annual Brunch is on the lanai the first Saturday in August. This year it is Aug. 6. Pet Lovers Club
