| OCEAN HILLS NEWS | APRIL 2016 | 15 WEEKEND FILMS: All films are shown in the Ladies Club Room every Friday, Saturday and Sunday unless exempted by a priority event or holiday. Show times are at 2:30 pm, 5 pm and 7:30 pm each day unless the film is over 2 hours and 20 minutes in length. When this occurs, the 5 pm show will be omitted and the last show will be at 7 pm. An additional show at 11 am will be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday when no other activity is scheduled. See the week's movie program published every Thursday or call the Movie Hotline (760) 758-1216, ext. 5 for more details. Before attending, it is recommended that you carefully review the MPAA ratings for potentially offensive content. Until further notice, copies of the Coming Attractions for the most popular and highly rated films will be found in the Ladies Club Room for the taking and on the bulletin board outside the Mens Club Room. It will advise you of the day of release in DVD format as announced by Netflix and the average critical rating. The rating numbers represent the combined average of both the critical and popular ratings on a scale of 0 to 100 as published on the websites RottenTomatoes.com, Metacritic.com, and IMDB.com. A rating between 60 and 100 signifies the best films while 80 to 100 represents the highest quality. MIDWEEK FOREIGN FILMS: Critically acclaimed contemporary foreign films and films released within the last 25 years or so are shown every Wednesday at 7 pm. Seating is on a first come, first served basis and guests of residents are always welcome. This is in addition to the usually scheduled foreign films shown for the three shows on alternating Fridays FOREIGN FILM CLASSICS: Scheduled on Mon., April 18 at 1 pm by the Foreign Film Classic Group is the 1963 Italian/French film classic The Leopard (88 rating) starring Burt Lancaster, Alan Delon and Claudia Cardinale. Because of its length (3 hrs., 7 min.), it will be shown with an intermission. MUSICAL FINE ARTS: The next Musical Fine Arts program is scheduled for Sat., April 9 at 10 am, featuring Gershwin's classic opera: Porgy and Bess in a recent Simon Rattle production. Cinematic & Musical Art Appreciation Ocean Hills Society for the Performing Arts is committed to bringing in big-name, top talent to the Abravanel Hall stage and our second show of the season is right on the mark! Sat., May 14, at 7:30 pm, is the performance of the "Good Vibrations – A Celebration of the Beach Boys!" You asked and we listened! We are bringing to our community the concert that the majority of people wanted. Tickets will go on sale April 12 in Abravanel Hall at 8 am. This is a very popular show and residents may purchase two tickets per household until 9:30 am and then you may purchase as many as you wish. This will be a very good kick-off before we all start our summer. This show promises to be very entertaining and you will be singing along to all those great Beach Boy renditions that made them so famous. Once again, it will be hand clapping and toe tapping for this performance. Tickets are the usual bargain, subsidized price of $30 each and you all know that is much lower than "the commercial outside the gates venues" charge.
