48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2016 Billiards for Fun Each week it is so delightful when the Billiards for Fun Group gathers together to play a game we all enjoy. Although sometimes it can be frustrating and disappointing, we keep coming back each week to improve our skill level and rise to the challenge. What makes it most fun, however, are the amazing people in our group. There's always teasing, laughter and fun, as well as generous encouragement, thoughtful suggestions, praise and kudos. On April 12 we held our bi-monthly, spring-themed potluck, hosted by Brian and Jill Anderson. As always, there was ample and varied food and lots of laughter and fun to go around. Our quarterly in-house tournament is May 3. There will be two session times, in the same format as regular play, except with double elimination. The first and second place winning partnerships will have the distinct privilege of having their names placed on the new Billiards for Fun plaque on display in the Billiards Room. Although it's always fun and challenging, at times you can hear a pin drop on the carpet, the concentration is so intense. (That's between the laughter, of course!) We meet every Tuesday at either the 11 am to 1 pm session, or the 1 to 3 pm session. (There are two sessions because we only have four tables, which accommodate 16 players, and we have such a great group that we established two sessions so everyone has a chance to play.) We pull peas at exactly the starting times, to determine the partnership play for the day. Check out the adjacent photo to see the fun we have each week at formal play. There are also two informal practice sessions at the same times on Saturdays, which is always just as much fun and challenging! If you're a new resident, recently retired, or just want to join a group of amazing pool players, please drop by and visit on either Tuesday or Saturday! Hope to see you soon! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine Marvin Gaines (L) strategizes with partner Brian Anderson
