30 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2016 | From the President – Dave Cometa: If you are not a member of the Four Seasons Golf Club, please read this very important message. I don't know of any other Four Seasons Club that can offer you so much fun and excitement as the 4 Seasons Golf Club. What other club offers you a chance to ride in a little cart over green pastures carrying 14 sticks around trying to hit a ball that is standing still into a hole that seems to move every time you hit towards it? You know I have played most every sport there is and I can honestly say that I find golf to be the most challenging, exciting, rewarding, gratifying and healthy game. Well, maybe I'm not being totally honest with you about my game as I sometimes get so overwhelmed with all of this fun and challenging stuff that I just want to take two weeks off from playing and then quit. But something keeps bringing me back, like the 160 plus wonderful people we have in our club. Each of our members know that they are there to pick each other up when we make a bad shot with the comforting words like, "you'll play better tomorrow" or "it's only a game" or "it was almost a great shot." So if you're not a member of our club yet, I ask why? Don't let our 160 plus members have all the fun. Get your membership application at the Lodge and join the Four Seasons Golf Club. Also, it looks like El Niño has turned out to be El Bambino. We haven't had nearly as much rain as had been predicted, but it has allowed us to play more golf this year than we expected. I am so pleased to see the many of you who are coming out and playing in our Tuesday games and as we enter into the springtime of the year I look forward to seeing many more of you playing. Remember, it may be just a game, but it's a great game! From the Tournament Chair – Addis Scott: You may sign up at our prior Tuesday golf event, or contact the Tournament Committee by email at hemet4sgc@gmail.com. For more information contact Elliot Yaeger at ey1611@gmail.com or (951) 223-3735. From the Handicap Chair – Lynn Smith: To all golfers, posting scores in person immediately following the round at the course where the round is played is the preferred way to expose scores to your peer review. This method of posting must be used whenever possible. The place for returning scores from all courses should be convenient to make it as easy as possible for players to record every round played. The form of reporting is the responsibility of the golf club or the authorized golf association, and will depend upon the procedure adopted by the Handicap Committee. The posted scores for the day must be immediately available to all members for peer review. If a player fails to post a score, the Handicap Committee may post the score without the player's authorization. The committee must notify the players that it will post the scores in order to prevent scores from being posted by both the player and the committee. From the Rules Chair – Tom Johnson: By hitting a provisional ball you save time if there is a possibility that your original ball is out of bounds or lost, not in a water hazard. You must declare that you are hitting a provisional ball before you hit the ball or it cannot be considered a provisional. If your original ball is found and is not out of bounds you must play the original ball, even if you consider the original ball unplayable. Your relief for the unplayable ball is dropping within two club lengths no closer to the hole with a penalty of one stroke, hitting from a point on the line from the hole through the ball no closer to the hole with a penalty of one stroke, or stroke and distance hitting from where the original ball was hit. The provisional ball cannot be used because the rule states that it can only be used if the original ball is lost or out of bounds.
