| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2016 | 19 Landscape Committee The brightly colored spring flowers planted at the main entrance gates and the front of the Lodge say a cheery welcome to all. The World Cup back gate entrance enhancements, new trees, shrubs and roses should be in place at the time of this reading. The corners of Faldo, World Cup and Four Seasons Blvd. have undergone a transformation and are just the start of things to come, there are plans to replace missing and dead trees and shrubs along Four Seasons Blvd. and World Cup over the upcoming months as time and the budget will allow. Enhancements at the Singh Basin (new hedge) and the Emergency Vehicle Access Road (EVA) with new plantings and ground cover have been completed. Monaco at Artistic Landscape Maintenance demonstrated the Gopher X Machine, it sends carbon monoxide into the tunnels made by the gophers and will exterminate all rodents that might be in there, it is environmentally safe and the remains of the critters are not poisonous to other animals. It is being tested in the highest problem areas and while we will never be able to totally eliminate all rodents it will certainly make a big difference. Artistic continues to do an excellent job maintaining the landscaping of the Legends and the common areas in addition to addressing the back log of areas needing attention when they first took over. They have also been working on the replacement of the end of life sprinkler controllers with smart controllers which will allow better management of irrigating our common landscape areas.. and the pending EMWD rebates will pay a good portion of the cost. The good news is that EMWD has eased the water use restrictions as the drought lessons a bit from an extreme 70 percent reduction to a lower 30 percent reduction. This will enable our Four Seasons community to continue to protect the investment in our common area landscaping. Architectural Committee Thinking of painting your house? If you are planning on changing the color of the outside of your home (be it the stucco, trim, shutters or doors –including the garage door) you need to get ARC approval. Please provide us with a color chart/strip/tab or sample with appropriate numbers as indicated by the paint manufacture. Often you pick a color from one of the above, but without the corresponding numbers we cannot approve it. Some of the color charts or strips seem lighter on paper than the finish color, so ask the paint store to make a sample color spot on a wood paint paddle to present. If you are painting using the same color, you do not need ARC approval, but make sure it's the same color by following the above suggestions. Are you burning up your plants? This past week we had temperatures up to 90 degrees which equates to 130 degrees at the base of your plants if you have rocks/stones/gravel at the base around the plant. Remove the rock material at least 8" (12" is better) from around the plant and put some mulch in that area. This will prevent the heat, which will be retained from 10 to 12 pm, from burning the roots of the plants and will also save water. Community Awareness Committee Ready, set, go! We are busy! We had the pleasure of having Mayor Pro-Tem, Paul Raver discuss items he will be bringing forward at the city council strategic planning meeting in April for discussion in May. We will email you the date of the all-day session in May when it is announced. If the current voting district map for the city is approved, Paul will be our council member. His extensive background with both the federal government and the county of Orange provide a unique opportunity for our city and Four Seasons. Public Safety Measure "E" is of greatest importance to our community on the June Ballot. I hope you attended the town hall meeting at the Lodge. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Robin Lowe, chair at 760-2200. Joy and Kathy from Reinhardt Canyon brought us news of a possible development (again). We will be working with them closely to protect the "Weir Lot." Nothing in writing yet, but we will be making contact with the developer from Arizona. It's wonderful to have these two ladies as allies. If you are interested in becoming a member of the CAC, please pick-up an application at the front desk. We welcome new members! And if you have a particular issue you'd like to discuss with us, we meet the first Monday of each month at 3 pm in the Board Room. Come see us!
