22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2016 | May is upon us! Let us begin this month with a tribute to all mothers. As Mother's Day quickly approaches, we want to acknowledge the importance of mom. There is no other love greater or more powerful than the love of a mother for her child. No matter how old a child is, or how far apart a mother lives from her child. Embedded deep in her heart is the love she holds for her child. There is a life time of loving, nurturing and protecting her children. A mother is equal, selfless and always sacrificing. A mother has the greatest influence on human life as she molds all of their tomorrows. Let us all make time for our mothers, not only on Mother's Day but every day. April Program Presenter: Speaking of moms, our own team member Linda Adkins has done an amazing job, not only as a member of Team Sunshine's Program group, but as a mother. Linda was kind enough to share her son, FBI Special Agent Brian Adkins with our community. Brian Adkins was our April presenter and he held his audience captive. The Program Team (Rose Mary Garrison, Chair; Linda Adkins, Sandy St. John and Maggie Grimes) have several upcoming programs to share. In June they have Valley Beautiful (landscaping) ready to take the stage and there are plans for a Senior Living (information on options for seniors; and possibly a Women's Self Defense program. This team has been busy. Thanks for the great programs. Thank you, Four Seasons Players: Team Sunshine and the Four Seasons Players are teaming together for the June 4 event. Thanks to the Players, all the profits from the sale of tickets will be donated to Team Sunshine. We will be helping to make this a very special type of theatre experience. From what we understand, three "radio" shows will be presented: Baby Snooks, My Favorite Husband and Dragnet. There will also be a special presentation written by Don Ortega. More information will be forthcoming. Mark your calendar, please. Celebration of Life: Our condolences go out to the family of Patricia Olson. A celebration of life was held on April 13. We hold Patricia Olson's family in our hearts and prayers as they grapple with the loss of their loved one. Patricia was a good friend to many and a member of our community here at the Four Seasons. She will be missed. Endless Dedication: Team Sunshine heralds the endless work and dedication of two of our team members. Our husband and wife duo, David and Beverly Habig (photo inset), work tirelessly to help in our community and are invaluable to Team Sunshine. Dave is our official photographer/ videographer and Bev helps with the special cards sent to those who need some sunny cheer. By the way, if you missed one of our Team Sunshine programs, Dave provides a copy of those programs at the front desk. A heartfelt thank you to this duo. May Health Fair - Save The Date: This yearly event is right around the corner on May 19 from 10 am to 1 pm. Make sure to mark your calendar and don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity. Arbor Hospice (Jennifer Trebler) plans to bring in a variety of medical personnel to our community for a free Health Fair. There will be screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, eyes, ears, bone density and more. To top it off, a barbecue is also being provided on a first come, first serve basis. So stop by and grab a bite to eat and take advantage of all the medical opportunities that will be provided to you. Another great event brought to you by Team Sunshine. Recognition for the Sunshine Team: Hal Townend presented appreciation certificates to Team Sunshine Co-Chair, Margie Culton (photo inset). The presentation was an unexpected honor for the continuing work that Team Sunshine does in the community. Thank you, Board of Directors and to Hal Townend who steps down as president of the board. We will miss Hal's sunny disposition and always present humor. Thank you for your service! Team Sunshine Services: Team Sunshine is always waiting to send sunshine and comfort to those in our community facing difficult times. We have a team of members (Trish Egan and Bev Habig) who write special cards to those in need. If you have ever been a recipient of such cards, you know how uplifting they can be. In addition, we have team members (Anne Balensiefer, Fabian Yaeger, and Kathy Poss) who make personal phone calls to community members as needed. It's always nice to know someone is thinking of you, checking to make certain you are alright and ensuring you that we are nearby and here to help. This is such a privilege for us. Contact Trish Egan if you know of someone in need. Trish can be reached by calling (909) 844-3852. Thank you! Also, our bulletin board in the Multipurpose Room has current contact and resource information. Closing Thoughts: May has always been such a special time of the year, enveloping our senses with the smells of freshly cut grass, flowers in bloom and such endearing visions of trees unraveling their new leaves, and mother birds tending their newly hatched young. Certainly, this must bring smiles to all of our faces, as we celebrate the new life that surrounds us each day. Cherish the moments around you, smell the roses and allow the sunshine to warm your heart and renew your spirit. Team Sunshine hopes that all of you are savoring the beauty of life that we are gifted with each day. "All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt." ~ Charles M.
