| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2016 | 3 By Doug Swenson FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK Every April Sun Lakes Country Club conducts an election for the Master Board and every other year for the District delegates. This year the election was for both of them. Five homeowners ran for three positions on the Board and if you haven't already heard, here are their names and their vote count: John Clark: 1896 votes Ray Curtis: 1405 votes Sandra Moyer: 1683 votes Jim Searcy: 2500 votes Kevin Wolfswinkel: 1602 votes When you see any one of the candidates, please thank them for showing an interest in performing the duties of a Master Board member. After the announcement of the results, the new Board in open session elected each Board member to a specific officer position. Your new slate of officers for the Master Board for the upcoming year is as follows: President: Doug Swenson Vice President: John Clark Second Vice President: Jim Searcy Treasurer: Dan Comerford Secretary: Sandra Moyer The District Delegate election provided a delegate and alternate for all 23 districts. There are several new members this year due to the decision by several long time members to step aside. I want to take this opportunity to give special thanks to Eve Rusk (Dist. 2), Jann English (Dist. 3), Amelia Langush (Dist. 10), Georgia Cline (Dist. 12), and Beverly Agner (Dist. 15) for their many years of service to this very important organization. The District Delegate is the eyes and ears of the Master Board. It is the first group we call upon when we need to get a feeling of the pulse of the membership on a given subject. Now that the election is complete, the next important function of the new Board is preparing the budget. You are receiving your Lifestyles the first of May and that process has already begun. The Board will have met alone and with the Finance Committee to lay out some initial ground work and direction they are looking for the budget to take. As we have done for several years, we are encouraging all Sun Lakes Country Club homeowners to get involved in the budget process. We know that not everyone wants to or could get actively involved but we are hoping those of you with interest do come forward. The first budget session open to the membership will be held on July 26 at 1:15 pm in the Admin conference room. Please contact Tami Morgan at 769-6645 to let her know you are planning on attending. There is limited seating in the conference room so if the response is large enough, we will move the meeting to accommodate all interested members. If you have important input you feel needs to be considered prior to July 26 please send a letter to the Master Board covering the details so we can discuss it as soon as we can in the process. Once the budget is complete and distributed to the homeowners, it is too late to make changes or recommendations so please get involved on the dates set aside for such involvement. The complete schedule for the budget process can be found on the Sun Lakes Country Club website. Once again, I am reminding you about the age verification program that is going on this year. As you know, this form is required to be filled out along with a copy of your ID every other year. Please make sure you complete this task as soon as possible. We don't want to have to go door to door to verify we have at least 80 percent of our residents being at least 55 years of age. Without this verification, Sun Lakes Country Club would lose this status which would be very detrimental to our future. Summer is right around the corner and visiting families become a very common occurrence. Please be aware of small children as you drive through the development. Always remember to accompany your guests when they use our wonderful facilities.
