| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2016 | 43 Executive Men's Golf The month of June brings us our Annual Charity Week, which the Men's Club supports each year with golf tournaments on both courses. Also, the President's Cup begins on Wed., June 1 to be completed by Sat., July 9 (weather permitting). This is a match play format, with a span of days in which to complete a match. Each flight has been seeded, and should provide some very interesting matches. The final matches of the three flights are to be played on the morning of Sat., July 9, and spectators are encouraged to watch some exciting golf. The Member-Member Men's Club Tournament will be Best Ball Gross and Net on Wed., June 8, and Aggregate of the two tournaments on Sat., June 11. Handicaps will be 90 percent of each player, both days, with no more than a 10 stroke differential between partners. This is a great tournament and is played Wednesday through Saturday specifically so that those who cannot play two days in a row are able to participate. As an update on our progress with a few of the goals of our board for the New Year, you should know where we are on the proposed Sun Lakes Golf Hall of Fame. We had a preliminary and most productive meeting with representatives from the Executive Club and the club president from the Ladies Club. After all was said and done, we all concluded that we only want what is best for the community at large and we all feel that our best chance for being successful in this idea is to have a proposal to submit to the Delegate Assembly that comes from all of us. We are, therefore, in the midst of drafting a complete proposal that relates to all of the golfing clubs, with a systematic listing of a residing location that will satisfy the rules of the community and with a clear cut set of qualifications that every potential inductee would have to have met in order to be inducted into this Sun Lakes Golf Hall of Fame. All of this is not exactly the "slam-dunk" we had envisioned for certain, but a process that will have solid chance for a real and satisfactory conclusion. We'll give everyone an update as this situation progresses, so please look for continuing information on this topic in our articles in future Lifestyles issues. Men's Golf Friday morning golf with the Executive Men's Golf Club is challenging and fun. The par 60 Executive Course features 12 par 3s and six par 4s that offer plenty of opportunities to score a Hole-in-One. A feat accomplished by five of our club members so far in 2016. Congratulations to Jac Adams, Sal Asaro, David Frank, Bruce Herwig, and Dennis Stancik. We play every Friday on the Executive Course with monthly tournaments on the third Friday of the month. Tournament winners have money credited to their accounts which can be used to purchase items from the Pro Shop or Restaurant/Lounge. Every week you can enter to win money for closest to the pin. There is no tournament in June because we will be busy with Charity Week. However, in July we will hold our annual EMGC/LEGS tournament in addition to the regular third Friday tournament. All Sun Lakes male golfers are encouraged to come out on Friday mornings at 8:30 am to the North Clubhouse for a 9 am tee time. New member forms are available in the North Clubhouse Pro Shop or EMGC website. If you have any questions our Membership Chairman, Al Silva, can be reached at 769-7495. So come out and join us, we would like to have you as a member. Women's Golf In addition to the eight major tournaments that the club has planned, club members also have the opportunity to play in a variety of weekly golf games. The weekly games are not only fun and challenging, but they also provide members the opportunity to meet and play with different club members throughout the year. If you are looking for an enjoyable challenge on our Championship Course and the camaraderie of many golf sisters, join us in the Sun Lakes Women's Golf Club. We play Thursday mornings and the first Saturday of the month. Tournaments are flighted and a $65 membership fee includes a W.S.C.G.A. sanctioned handicap. Applications are available on Sun Lakes website as well as in the Main Pro Shop. For more information, call Membership Chairman Sandy Moyer at 769-7922 or email skmkids@ outlook.com.
