| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2016 |29 The Sun Lakes Photo Group's annual photo contest is over and so is the round of spring meetings. The next meeting will be our annual potluck barbecue picnic to be held on Mon., June 13 at 6 pm at the North Clubhouse. Bring something for yourself and a dish to share. Alcohol is okay. Award ribbons for the photo contest will be handed out at the picnic. Winning photos will be placed on the electronic display next to the Sun Lakes restaurant. We will be on hiatus during July and August. Sun Lakes Photo Group meetings are fun for anyone interested in photography. We get to share pictures at each meeting. Some meetings have tutorials on Photoshop techniques, digital cameras and other subjects. Our meetings are on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room beginning again on Sept. 12. There is a projector system and photos can be brought on either a CD or a flash drive, also known as a thumb drive. Some of our members had no idea which end of the camera was which when they first started and you will see that their progress is amazing. You will enjoy attending the Sun Lakes Photo Group. Meetings are informal, there are no dues and whether you are a novice or a pro it is always fun to see what others are doing with their cameras. Info., Steve Felber, 769-6898. Photography We wonder about the purpose of life. What higher purpose than to discover our true nature? Meditation, an integral part of proceeding on a path of Self (God) – Realization promises to do just that. When the mind with its myriad thoughts becomes quiet and still, we can feel what lies beyond. The Pure, Non-Dual (only ONE) Consciousness lies beyond and is our true, undifferentiated and eternal being. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 minute meditation (15 minute if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the same teaching of Non-Duality. As always, questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library). We meet weekly Wednesdays 2:30 to 3:45 pm and Sundays 11:30 am to 1 pm. (Note: On the fourth Wednesday of the month satsang starts at 3:30 pm) This is a free offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and six years of teaching (four at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an open mind. Meditation: a pathway to truth Karaoke Group The warm and "Lazy Hazy Crazy Days Of Summer" are here again and with them come picnics, barbecues and vacations. It's the days of summer's past that bring on the memory of songs like "In The Good Old Summer Time," "Summer Time Blues," "Summer In The City," "The Summer Wind" and so many others that are so familiar and perfect to sing at a Karaoke event with Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls & D.J. Blast. The Sun Lakes Karaoke club offers songs of summer and so much more. You may be a fan of the big band era or possibly a fan of country music or even of the 50s, 60s, 70s or 80s music. They can all be found at these Karaoke presentations. Other genres of music are also represented. Show tunes, Spanish songs, movie themes and many other music types can be summoned at your request. Summertime is also a time to celebrate, kick up your heels and dance to the music. Dancing is what very often occurs at An Evening Of Karaoke with Barb, Rosie & D.J. Blast. D.J. Blast will invite the willing to the dance floor and instruct them to follow a step by step mini class of line dancing. Our Sun Lakes Karaoke family is growing with each scheduled date. Some folks who attend these Karaoke shows just watch and are pleased and surprised at the caliber of talent that may show up. At any given time you may see Sheila James, Bob Palmer, Bill and Shirley McDonald, Patsy Olivares, Barb Miller and Dave Herman.
