FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2016 19 morning at 10 am. This year as in years before, the committee has encouraged neighborhood streets to get together and have one person be the representative to purchase tickets for their block. This really expedites the long wait times for people, rather than having a long line of 250 people waiting to buy their individual tickets. Just a note for our next event sales, even though it really does work better to have a representative for a whole street do all the waiting in line for everyone and pay all of the tickets with only one check, the perception by many is that one person is just hogging up all of the tables and seats in one fatal swoop. Another misperception is that this one street representative must be bringing tons of guests and outsiders, limiting how many residents can attend. The truth is that we had very few guests out of the total in attendance. In the future however, because of the level of protest, Social Committee is going to be requesting that we limit ticket purchases to one table per person. Be prepared to wait longer now as more people will be required to stand in line to get their tickets. All in all I think most everyone felt the show was well worth the little challenges and wait time. The preparation for this show was very labor intensive in that the committee decided to execute a delightful idea suggested by their BOD liaison Jean Sandoval, which was an adorable table decoration in the form of a cute little purse which held the silverware and napkins. Hours of hand work was involved with the hopes that this little added value decoration would contribute just the flair needed to really make the tablescapes special. Big kudos for that undertaking! The other big hit for this show was the delicious fresh salad luncheon. We all got raves about the huge assortment of healthy choices and the yummy desserts. What most people didn't realize was the heart attacks that were going on just days before the event, when a brand new catering company that the committee had booked with months in advance, canceled their services the Thursday before the Saturday event! I had to get on the phone and beg Mellissa from our ever dependable catering company Thomas' to please take the job to bail us out for the event. Miraculously, in spite of the fact that they already had three jobs that same day, they took to heart our plight and gathered more staff and even rented another catering truck for our event. They did a spectacular job for a last minute bailout and the committee was very pleased with their efforts! The fashion show itself was provided by Sarah Rios of Vintage Fashions. The historical details of each outfit were extremely fascinating and the models were beautiful and so era-perfect for the outfits they were showcasing. The audience was mesmerized as well as nostalgic when fashions of the 50s and 60s came strutting down the catwalk. A big thank you also goes to the Camera Club who loaned us photographer extraordinaire, Grace Goodrich as the event photographer. Thank you Grace for a job well done. Thank you residents for your support of this event and an especially big thank you for all the efforts the Social Committee goes through to provide great entertainment for the community! continued from the previous page Yvette Thomas checks out the details of this 40s fashion model's dress 60s fashion model with a sports car 40s model with our own handsome Pete Antoine
