6 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2016 By Patty Jordan It's summer again and time to celebrate with our Amphitheater series of five free monthly concerts that allow us to tap our toes to several genres of musical entertainment. The Amphitheater Production Group, under the leadership of resident Mark Lassen, spends the off-season looking for and contracting with performers. This year several of them went to a conference in La Mirada to listen to bands and other entertainers seeking places to perform in Southern California. According to Mark, the group's goal was to find performers who "really put on a show." They also have to be affordable. Finding great entertainment is only part of the group's responsibilities. There is a technical side to each performance, setting up lighting and making sure that we get the best sound possible. Over the years we have upgraded our sound system and the Ad Hoc Technical Committee makes sure that all systems are go on the night of the concert. That means setting up equipment and doing sound checks, as well as making adjustments as needed during each performance. The Amphitheater Production Group is also responsible for having programs printed, gathering items for "doorless" prizes, welcoming the performers to Four Seasons and usually feeding them, as well as welcoming residents and their guests to the Amphitheater and doing clean-up afterward. This is a hard- working group of volunteers who are always happy to have more help. There are going to be some special treats in store for us this Amphitheater season. For example, on July 17 we're going to have a beach party… without the sand. Woody and the Longboards is a Beach Boys tribute band and not only are they going to rock the house, but so are we. We will play with beach balls, have some contests and in general go Surfin' USA. The grand finale on Sept. 18 promises to be just as much fun! So, be sure to mark your calendars for the third Sunday of the month, from May through September, except for June when we move to the second Sunday so that we don't compete with Father's Day. The concerts begin at 7, but come early to enjoy a picnic and share the camaraderie with your neighbors, make new friends, and then sit back and enjoy our beautiful setting with the sounds of your favorite tunes. We especially hope that our many new residents will come join the fun and experience one more of the things that make Four Seasons Beaumont a very special place to live. Amphitheater: Four Seasons' Concerts under the Stars Last year's amphitheater events were well attended.
