Bocce
To all our friends and neighbors who participated in the Bocce
Scramble, you were all great competitors. But only one team took it
to the top to be the first place winners. Great job David Scott and Van
Eychaner — you played the best to win top spot out of 28 teams. All
players played with great skill and strategy. We all look forward to
coming together to play Bocce in the Fall, when we rally around our
team mates to try again to reach best team of the year.
Sue Marlarkey did a great job as Chairperson for the Spring
season. I know she looks forward to hosting again next year and
gathering all team players to the courts for another tough season.
She gained great confidence and leadership and will be there for you
in 2017.
When needed, our team players pitch in to help where ever
possible. We again have found they are eager to help. Sometimes
we need to reach out beyond our weekly competition, and help when
asked, and our club has responded in different ways. One of our
longtime residents who has become a permanent celebrity needs
help. Mary Gimondo, daughter of Ernie and Pat Marsicano, needs
our help. A website fundraiser has been set up to help raise funds for
her battle with cancer. She desperately needs our help. Her family
have exhausted everything they have saved and have turned to the
social media to help. The website is www.youcaring.com; type in
Mary Gimondo in the search box. You will see her picture. We ask
our players, and perhaps our community, to consider what you can
do to help. Many of us have met or talked with Ernie here at our
wonderful lodge and seen his pictures in the Herald. Please help if
you can — they graciously thank you in advance.
