EXCURSIONS EXCURSION SIGN UPS: FRI., JULY 1, 8 AM Visit the Rec. Dept. today before the highlighted excursions sell out! THESE EXCURSIONS AREN'T SOLD OUT? SHOCKING! Pacific Marine Mammal Center & Time in Laguna Beach Wed., Sept. 7, 8 am - 5 pm, $38 pp. Our Mission Statement, The Pacific Marine Mammal Center rescues, rehabilitates and releases marine mammals and inspires ocean stewardship through research, education and collaboration. Why are our wild marine friends at the PMMC instead of out in the blue Pacific? Wounds, parasites and fishhooks account for some of their issues, but for most of them, malnutrition and dehydration brought them here. The majority of PMMC's patients are pups found stranded on our beaches. According to the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA), pups are going hungry because unusually warm water along the Pacific coast has made it more difficult for their mothers to find food. As supporters that visit the Center we will learn more about the plight of the marine mammals, we will also learn about native plants, water-wise gardening, beneficial insects and water quality, bringing their experience full circle. This will be a 30 minute presentation with a 30 minute viewing of the non-critical mammals. After your tour of the Pacific Mammal Center Rescue, you will take a short drive to Downtown Laguna Beach for time on your own. The city of Laguna Beach is located in southwest Orange County, approximately 55 miles southeast of Los Angeles a little seaside town with miles of coastline, beautiful beaches, Mediterranean climate, specialty shops and delicious restaurants all wrapped up in today's excursion. A View From the Top Thurs., Sept. 15, 8:30 am - 6:30 pm, $56 pp. Experience the newest experience to come to downtown L.A.
