| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2016 | 37 Dinner Dance Club There are no Country Western functions in July. We will have two new, but very experienced, line dance instructors starting in September. Line dance instruction is on Monday evenings, from 7 to 8:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. The first instruction will be Mon., Sept. 12, and will be primarily for very beginners (and those who need a refresher). So if you think you have an interest, come and give it a try. The first lesson is free and of course, no obligation. Couples instruction will again be on Tuesday evenings, usually the second and fourth Tuesdays, from 7 to 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. The first instruction will be Tues., Sept. 13 with very basic instruction. Again, no charge, so come and check us out. There are Friday evening dances in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 7 to 9 pm. Our first one of the new season will be Fri., Sept. 23. There will be no charge for this dance so, if you have an interest, or are curious about what we do, please come and spend the evening with us. Check the club's August and September Lifestyles article for more information. Also look for our club flyer in the Main Clubhouse. Country Western Dance A special "thank you" to all our members for contributing to another successful year. As you know, July is the month to renew your membership for the 2016/2017 year. We also will be holding our Annual Meeting on Thurs., July 21 in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. If you have questions or just want to make suggestions for improving the club, please plan to attend. The meeting will commence at 2:30 pm. Annual Membership is $100 per couple or $50 per individual and is due no later than July 31. Payment of your annual membership may be accomplished by any of the following means: Bring your check to the Annual Meeting if you plan to attend. Drop off your check and membership form in the box by the front door at 4833 Rolling Hills Avenue. Drop off your check and membership form at the same time you drop off your check for your July Dance attendance in the box located on the gate at 782 Torrey Pines Road. HOWEVER, PLEASE DO NOT COMBINE THE MEAL SELECTION CHECK AND MEMBERSHIP CHECK. WRITE SEPARATE CHECKS FOR MEMBERSHIP AND JULY'S FOOD SELECTION. (Remember, we're seniors and we confuse easily!) Sign-ups for July's dance will be accepted between July 11 and 18 and remember to include your table request. We have the following great meal selections for your enjoyment. We will start the evening with a mixed green salad and warm dinner rolls. The entrees are: 1) Pork chops (2) w/mushrooms, skin on garlic mashed potatoes and chef 's choice vegetable $23.50; 2) Chicken cordon bleu, skin on garlic mashed potatoes and chef 's choice vegetable $22.25; 3) Portobello mushroom stuffed with mashed potatoes also with chef 's choice vegetable $20. We have delicious pecan pie with whipped cream for dessert! Due to scheduling difficulties, July's dance will be held one week later than usual on Sat., July 30. Generations will provide our musical entertainment and John and Rosa will be providing our dance lesson. Doors open at 5:15 pm and the dance lesson will begin at 5:30 pm. Attire is our summer "Dressy Casual" — come learn a new dance step and join the fun! Tickets for our annual show are still available. It will be held in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on July 15 and 16 at 7 pm. Contact any member to purchase your tickets. Chairman for ticket sales is Carol Hurt, 769-1315. Guest performers in the show are The Notables, Jon Reese, Bert Garbel, Bill and Shirley McDonald, Ray Rendon, Valerie Hubbard, Tom Sheahan, Buddy Hawkins, The IDS Dancers, and the Tap Dancers. The show is very fast paced, and well rehearsed. Pre-show entertainment is provided by John Oxrider and Ed Avina. Come early, have some appetizers from the bar and enjoy the entertainment. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Upcoming performances after the show will be: IDS Show, The Follies, The 21, 22, 23 District Fashion Show, and a charity fashion show for the animal rescue EPAP group. Fashions by Tommy Bahama's outlet with many male models involved will be featured. The Stardust Dancers did the garden club fashion show recently. We raised $1,200 for the Sun Lakes Library to help with the purchase of audio books. New members will be accepted after the July show.
