50 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2016
The 8-Ball in-house tournament this month was fun and exciting, as usual.
Here's the play-by-play: Jone Babin and Larry Rice were undefeated in the first
four rounds of regular play. Jone lost to Larry and dropped into the loser's
column. Shirley Rice trying to fight out the loser's column won three games in
a row to come up against our birthday girl, Jone Babin, who is also her friend
and neighbor. Jone broke the rack and dropped the one ball on the break then
proceeded to run five more balls. Shirley missed her shot, but Jone missed her
next shot, too. Shirley played a defensive maneuver and thought maybe Jone
was stymied. Jone kicked her seventh ball into the pocket then dropped the
8-Ball and gave herself a birthday present with the win. Jone then met Larry
Rice again for the final games, but Larry won the first game and clinched the
championship with the win. Congratulations Larry.
In 9-Ball tournament action, Brian Anderson ran through the field of 11
contenders undefeated. In the last game of regular play, pitted against Leo
Babin, Brian sunk the 9-Ball on the break. That sent Leo into the loser's column
where he met up with Ray Windhorn who had previously only lost one game.
Leo was victorious and returned to the finals to play once again against Brian.
The play went back and forth until Brian had his try at the 4-ball. He executed a
brilliant 4-9 combination shot to win the championship. Congratulations Brian.
Plans are forming up for our Summer barbecue picnic. Team members
should watch for the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. The team from Solera
Hemet will be our guests.
