Canasta #1 Join us for an afternoon of friendship and fun while playing a game of Hand and Foot Canasta. We meet in the Card Room Thursdays, 1 to 4 pm. Each week you may play with someone different, giving you an opportunity to meet other Four Seasons residents and old friends who enjoy an afternoon of "cool" cards. We supply the cards so all you have to bring is your body and the desire to have a little fun. If you don't know how to play we are always happy to set up a teaching table and by the time the afternoon is over you will have mastered the game. All you have to do is show up and leave the rest to us. ~ Melody Seewoster Bunco Happy Independence Day to all my Bunco friends. This month Bunco will be played July 8 and 22. We always play on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Bunco is very easy and it is a great way to meet some new friends. You really should come and give it a try. We meet in the card room at 1 pm sharp. Don't forget to grab a drink at Smitty's or even lunch beforehand. See you there. ~ Cheryl Burke Mah Jongg Everybody is welcome to join us for Mah Jongg at 12:30 pm on Mondays in the 1528 Building. We accept beginners and offer coaching for those who have not played in several years. A current Mah Jongg card is required but you can borrow or copy one until you get your own. You do not have to own a Mah Jongg set to join the fun, so come on out! ~ Barbara Goodreau Pinochle Pinochle is an exciting card game where you bid and bluff to name trump and take control of the game. This game is played with a double deck of special cards of ace through 10 against other aficionados, to tease your mind, and keep you sharp. Come join the game on Wednesday and Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm in the Card Room. Newbies and oldies are welcome for fun and socializing. Info., George Soeten, (951) 797-0254. ~ George Soeten We are looking for players, substitute players, and people who are interested in learning the game. I am happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn the game, either individually or in a small group, your home or mine. Pan is a card game, much on the order of gin in some respects, and played with up to eight people at a table. It is played by both men and women, so men are very welcome as well as women. The game can be played in the day, evening, in a room in the Lodge or in private homes. If you are interested, please call me, Linda Mendelson, at (951) 941-9100 or email me at Goldtoy@earthlink.net and I will answer any questions you may have. As all card games, it is played with both skill and luck. ~ Linda Mendelson Pan 38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2016 How fortunate we are to be among the many retirees at Four Seasons who are able to enjoy the many benefits and activities available to those who wish to experience the "good life." The original Monday Bridge Club is a fine example of congenial players coming together in a room with lovely views of the park, a perfect setting to share their Bridge talent. Bridge is a partnership game; the better you communicate, the more enjoyable it is. We meet at 12 noon each Monday in the RCN Building. If interested in the challenging game of Bridge, please call Helen at (951) 845-9312 or Gordon Sheppard at (714) 390-2610. ~ Helen Shoemate-Gurley Bridge We are enjoying continued success at ACBL Duplicate Bridge each Friday afternoon at 12:15 pm in the Recreation North Building. If you are a Duplicate Bridge player and would like to participate in the sanction game to get master points, call the director, Barbara, for reservations at (951) 530-1523. We encourage prospective new members to come play. For more information call Helen at (951) 845-9312 or Candice Parrish at (951) 845-0942. ~ Helen Shoemate-Gurley Duplicate bridge All welcome. Easy to learn. Played with single card deck, no jokers, 52 cards. We play three, four, or five at a table. No scheduling necessary. Played on Tuesdays at 6 pm in Card Room next to Library. A group has played here at Four Seasons for seven years. Seating is by random draw, no partners, individual scores. Easy to learn, harder to win. Players will teach. Games last approximately two hours. Lowest points win. If you have questions call Mike Saperstein (951) 769-7909. ~ Mike Saperstein Hearts Have you heard about the new card game, Phase 10, being played on the second Monday at 4 pm and the third Saturday at 3 pm at the RCN building? This game has been played by many from way back when and it's a lot of fun. The object of the game is to lay down your phase, play all your cards and go out, so you can continue to the next phase, completing all ten. Don't worry if you don't go out as long as you lay down your phase you can continue to the next. It's a fun game where luck comes in handy and don't worry if you get stuck on a phase. That can all change in one hand. A learning table can be set up for new comers if they've never played. On Saturday, July 18 we'll play for the 4th of July tournament. For more information call Cheri Howard at (951) 756-1216. ~ Cheri Howard Phase 10
