There has been a lot of juggling for first place. No one is safe with these 19 teams competing. As of now first place with seventeen wins are the S.O.B's. They are Ginger Chavez, George Chavez, Karen Struchen, and Ray Struchen. Only one game back is Easy Pick Up with Bud Miner, Bonnie Green, Teri Comerford, and Dan Comerford. There are only four wins separating the first place team and the team in tenth place. For the season high scores for the men is Scott Waddell with high scratch series of 700, Dan Comerford with a high scratch game of 244, Joe Griffin with High Handicap Series of 772, and Richard Cook with High Handicap Game of 284. For the women high season scores are Bonnie Green with High Scratch Series of 539, Maureen Condon with High Scratch Game of 208, Carolee Mathews with High Handicap Series of 722, and Susan Pottle with High Handicap Game of 281. Sun Lakers Monday at Moreno Valley Bowl We have reached the half way point in the sixteen week summer season. With July 4th our second bye week, we will resume again on July 11. The end of our split season has "The Optimists" in first place with twenty-one and a half points won and three and one-half games ahead of teams One and Nine – "Spares Are Good" and "Fabowlus 4." Congratulations to "The Optimists" Caroline Gagnon, Lois Preston, Bob McEwen, and Lee Gagnon. Tied for second place are Team One "Spares Are Good" consisting of Louise Deal, Lil McLean, Tom Keheley and Bob McLean; and Team Nine the "Fabowlus 4" Connie Matty, Ed Sterger, Leslie Sevilla, and Tom Tykodi. A big congrats to Carolyn Gagnon who rolled a scratch 201 game, 284 with handicap. She moves to the top of the women's Seasons High Scores followed by Louise Deal 189, and Linda Costell 175. Women's High game with handicap are Carolyn Gagnon at 284; Jean Turnbull 270; and Ginger Hines 255. High scratch series has Lisa Park at 484 in front followed closely by Micki Elsing at 481, and Sue Shubert at 466. Finally High Series with Handicap is lead by Mary Lou Peterson at 717, with Wanda Ranieri at 714 and Connie Matty at 686. Tom Tykodi had a 205 scratch game, 258 with handicap and was the only other 200 game this past week. With the end of our split season, all the teams have a chance to vie for first place in the second part of the season and have a bowl- off with The Optimists for overall winner. Out in front is team five. "Recycled Teens with 29 win points! Darlena Stevens, Joe Lawerence, sister-in-law and brother-in-law from Moreno Valley are resuming bowling after many years of non bowling. They joined with old timers Dottie Lucas and Jim McCallum on the original "Recycled Teens" and are eight games in front of second place "Walking Wounded" composed of Lois Preston, Bob McEwen, Al Kaminsky and Jeff Burris . The scores on Wednesdays continue to soar,and seem to be better than Mondays. This past week Bob McLean rolled seven strikes in a row in his 252 game, followed by five in a row and a 214 second game. His handicap series of 719 was exceeded by Ed Stergers 745 which carried his team to four wins over McLeans team! Jeff Burris had a 725 series with handicap to carry his team three wins over the first place team. Dottie Lucas had three strikes in a row to score a 251 game with handicap which carried "Recycled Teens " to a one pin win over "Walking Wounded."
