Aug. 21 – LUAU: ALOHA!! CHANGE OF DATE! DUE TO CONFLICT OF SCHEDULES LUAU IS CHANGED TO SUN., AUG. 21. There's still time to sign up for our fabulous Hawaiian luau. The fun starts at 5:50 pm at the South Clubhouse. There will be great food with some special Hawaiian treats. Get your hips and hands moving for a Hula contest. There will also be music for non-Hawaiian dancing, a little something for everyone to enjoy. There will be prizes for best "island" attire and other fun surprises. (Any knife wielding fire dancers out there?) The cost is $15 pp. BYOB and glasses. Sept. 18 – BLACK & WHITE EXTRAVAGANZA. Don't miss out on this elegant affair being held at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL SUN LAKES RESIDENTS! Doors open at 5:30 pm. While tuxedos and ball gowns are not a requirement, this event will be elegant so feel free to wear your bling. There will be a catered dinner and a special group providing great music for your listening and dancing pleasure. Invite your friends and neighbors, as the event will be open to all Sun Lakers. At this time I'm awaiting my results from a DNA test with Ancestry to document my family's country origin. That should be interesting. The next meeting will be Wed., Aug. 24 at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Since we were able to obtain a guest speaker for the July meeting, the August session will be the show and tell program. Bring a favorite item, family collectible, photo, or story to share with our fellow ancestry detectives (yes, that's what it seems to be when we're investigating those ancestors' lives). Membership open to all and the cost is $15/yr – such a bargain! Info., Ann Oliver, 769-5955. Genealogical Society Bible Study Our Bible study group is non- denominational. All are welcome. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet for dinner before our regular meeting. Reservations for dinner are taken in the meeting the last Wednesday of each month. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen to or participate in our discussion of the evening topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us. We meet Wednesdays at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room.
