22 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2016 The Landscape Committee is now at full strength, with the addition of four new members. Nancy Justice, Joyce Tautrim, Gloria Johnson and Linda Ruoff have joined Chairman Richard Hoffman, Sharon Bond and Lynette Simonson. We have increased the frequency of our walks observing the front yard cost center and common areas to once a month and continue our walks on the trails. Our First Service liaison, Jeff Jordan and one of our contractors have collaborated in putting together an index/catalog of trees, plants, flowers, ground coverings (with pictures) suitable for our very challenging climate. This should be available to homeowners upon request by the end of July. Inquire at the front desk at the Lodge for a copy. When we walk our trails, we are always on the lookout for the condition of the trail "bed." Did you realize that bicycles and strollers are not permitted on the trails? Also, golf carts are never permitted "off-road" nor are off-road recreational vehicles. This is for a very good reason as they will contribute to the deterioration of the structure of the trails. Please be mindful of this while you are enjoying the beauty of the trails in our community. ~ Nancy Justice Landscape Committee Architectural review Committee The updated Architectural Guidelines were sent to all homeowners at the end of June and at this point the 30 day homeowner review is complete so the new version is now in effect. The primary difference is to provide clarification on some points that seemed to be of confusion. Once again, as a reminder, no work is to begin or materials deposited at site prior to receiving written ARC approval. Most homeowners that submit their initial application (Exhibit A) have just purchased their property and this application requires the $125 fee. This usually includes a majority of work to be done to the front and back yards. It is helpful with involved improvements for the homeowner to attend the ARC meeting when their plans are being discussed. This allows the committee to clarify and ask any questions about the plans. There are times when the plans are unclear and without the homeowner present we may have to send the plans back for clarification resulting in lost time to the homeowner and the committee. Our meetings are open to anyone that would like to attend and see how the committee works. Our meetings are the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 8:30 am in the Conference Room in the RCN building. ~ Tom Halley
