The perspective of the Artist of the Month Barbara Dipoma: Although I have been a self-taught as a watercolor artist for a few years, I have always thought that my paintings would improve if I could draw better, know more about perspective and tone. I shied away from doing preliminary sketches, as I thought it was boring working with just a pencil on stock white paper. After meeting Rob he encouraged me to try drawing since he felt it would improve the quality of my paintings. I decided to attend Rob's drawing class on Wednesday nights and as much as I did not want to do the mandatory elephant as a first drawing I did become hooked and so pleasantly surprised how not boring and exciting it is to create something with such depth and detail with a pencil. I credit my new found passion to my Art Instructor Rob Kelman. His patient instruction insightfulness and vast knowledge guided me though the process, making it a delightful journey. I truly recommend this class as I have witnessed other people every week who have never drawn or even attempted anything artistic before, producing wonderful works of art feeling so amazed, proud and happy. Any questions, call Rob Kelman, (951) 992-9156 or (602) 571- 0414. ~ Rob Kelman FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2016 35 It is an absolute delight each week to witness how the members of "Believe…" Women's Bible Study have grown in faith, friendship, inspiration, knowledge of the Word, and genuine love for one another in Christ. It has also truly been a testament to the generosity and compassion of these women, as they stepped up to help with meals, cards, phone calls, etc. when one of our members broke her hip while out of town, and as another mourned the loss of her precious son. The Lord has called each of these extraordinary women to this group, and the group has in turn grown and flourished because of it. As we continued in July with our study of the Word, we began with four lessons on the topic of "A Godly Woman is Faithful," divided into four segments: (1) as an attribute of God, (2) as a positive human characteristic, (3) as a characteristic that some people lack, and (4) as a gift of the Spirit. What a joy it is for each of us to hear thoughts and insights about a particular subject from one another and have confidence to do so. In August we will begin with three lessons on the subject of "A Godly Woman is Tested," why, when and how we are tested, how to recognize a test, and what to do when we're in the midst of one. This sequence of lessons will elicit much discussion and sharing, and hopefully will strengthen and enlighten the members who attend. If any of you wonderful Four Seasons ladies are interested in broadening your knowledge of God's Word, learning from some very amazing and spiritual women who are your neighbors and potential friends, please come by the Card Room (next to the Library) in the Lodge any Friday at 10:30 am. We have a lesson/discussion for an hour and then a 15-minute prayer time for anyone in need of prayer, and dismiss at 11:45 am. Thanks to Jim Seim for his dedicated leadership in this series! Our Bible Study will break for the summer, and resume on Tuesday, Sept. 13, a full week after Labor Day. We will plan a potluck dinner at 7 pm for the first meeting; details will be sent in early August. Hopefully, we will be able to see some of you during the summer months.
