26 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2016
Senior Transportation Assistance Interest Group
Ice Cream Social – Save the date: Sept 29, at 6 pm in the Lodge.
Guest speakers on local transportation, Dial-A-Ride and Riverside
Transit will be there to answer your questions.
I hope to have applications and information on how to qualify for
benefits of the Americans with Disabilities Act that will allow you to
use Dial-A-Ride. It's as easy as getting a handicapped license plate.
Dial-A-Ride is for seniors as well as ADA card holders.
There will be a bus to allow seniors and disabled residents to
practice getting on and off and using the lift ramp.
How many of you no longer drive at night? That can be just the
beginning of limitations. We need people to work with us to ensure
that Beaumont has a transportation system that can provide the very
best service to our growing senior community.
Please join us at our monthly support group meetings at noon on
the third Thursday of each month at Smitty's for lunch. Or come to the
Transportation Now meetings at the Civic Center the first Thursday
of the month. Lunch is served. Please call Brenda or Richard.
We are trying to organize a second trip to the Morongo Casino,
using Dial-A-Ride pick up at home and then a fixed-route bus. There
is a sign-up sheet at the Lodge and when we get ten signatures we can
schedule the trip. Let me know if you need the lift ramp. The last trip
was a success and a fun outing for lunch and some gambling. If this
becomes popular we will find other places to visit.
Reminder: Please fill out the transportation questionnaire
at the Lodge or on the Internet at www.surveymonkey.com/r/
