FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2016 39 I must begin by giving kudos to John Noonan for producing an excellent July Fourth Patriotic Show. The Four Season Singers choir sounded amazing. John interspersed the awards by singing songs himself, as well as with Dave Chorba and Jerry Mathews. We also enjoyed separate solos by Dave and Jerry. Congratulations also go out to all tournament winners. Way to go. To get you excited about what's coming in '17, we decided that one of our shows for next year will be involving a famous street in New York City where the lights shine bright. That's a clue. Now, let's come back to this year. The next two shows to make sure you have on your calendar are: Friday, Oct. 7- Radio Shows There will be two Radio Shows from the 40s. One will be Blondie (& Dagwood) and the other a surprise. These are Fun Friday shows. The Ballroom is set up with tables. Bring your dinner from the Bistro or home. Don't forget that you can also bring whatever beverages, hard or soft, you would prefer. It's a party atmosphere, but please be quiet during the performances. Friday, Oct 28- "Love and Marriage" If there's any show you shouldn't miss this year, this is the one. This is going to be comprised of 15+ comedic skits, all relating to… what else?… Love & Marriage. The skits, all written by Michael Rothberg, producer, are hysterical. I guarantee you will be laughing throughout the entire performance. So come on out, you won't be disappointed. Looking ahead towards the end of the year is our Holiday Show. John Horning is producing with some help from me. We got together last week to discuss the show and here is what we came up with. The holidays are near my friend And we want to make sure to stay on trend Something might be related to rhymes We might even have some church bell chimes What about a memory or two If you haven't guessed, this is your clue! Karaoke! This month it is on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 5:30 pm. Whether you come to sing or dance or just for the entertainment of watching your neighbors, it's a fabulous fun early evening out. Amphitheater - Sunday, Aug. 21 at 7 pm featuring South Pasadena Transit Authority. I heard they have a beautiful melodic sound similar to Manhattan Transfer Authority. Sounds like a terrific show to me. We are still asking for anyone willing to help out with our sound system crew. It would be preferred if you have some experience but if you don't, we will train you. Please contact me at terimk@verizon. net or (951) 992-9156. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman Performing Arts Club Amphitheater "Saturday In The Park" (1972) Actually, the correct day is Sunday, Aug. 21. And though the area does resemble a lovely park, it is our Four Seasons Amphitheater. "Where Do We Go From Here?" (1970) Of course, get yourself to the Amphitheater. You will hear great music performed by the South Pasadena Transit Authority Band. (With a name like this would you ever guess this seven piece musical group is a tribute band to the Chicago Transit Authority Band?) "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" (1971) As a matter of fact, yes we do! The music begins at 7 pm. Remember, you may set up your chairs early in the day, but neither a blanket on the grass nor a "Reserved" sign will hold your spot. "Hard Habit To Break" (1984) It doesn't get much better or "habit forming" than the following: A. Listening to classic rock music from the 70s and 80s performed by seven gifted musicians, while sitting under the stars and sipping your choice of beverage (which is in a non-glass container, and the the bottle is in a sleeve). B. Though our evenings can be quite cool, you will be comfortable because you are wearing a jacket. C. You have a good chance of winning a terrific door prize. D. The icing on this cake of entertainment is that the concert is free and you only had to drive less than 5 minutes to find a parking space. This is a pretty nice habit we would encourage all to develop. See you at the Amphitheater Grand Finale on Sept. 18. ~ Doris SanFilippo Bridge for Fun Our Monday and Wednesday bridge groups just keep growing. We are up to four tables almost all the time and sometimes five! We have a great afternoon meeting new people and seeing our friends. It is what it says — "bridge for fun." Verina makes sure of that. We recently had a few new people join our group who had not played for some time and were learning. They have come along well and their weekly scores are right up there with the rest of us. So if you have ever thought about learning the game or want to take it up again, let us know. You can also just come and watch to see if it's your thing. We meet in the Card Room in the Lodge at 12 pm sharp on Monday and Wednesday. Wednesday info., Verina Rector (951) 769-1687 or Phil Irving (951) 922-2525. Monday info., Bill Guy (951) 845-5627. ~ Dr. Phil
