Occasionally while playing paddle tennis on a glorious summer evening I will notice those who stroll through the garden and pool areas of the Lodge here at Four Seasons Beaumont. Sometimes I can sense the curiosity arising while people walk by. "What is this sport? What is going on here?" Between points I will invite the curious to come within the gates and become our small crowd of spectators. While the seating is admittedly limited still there is an open door policy. There is something great about playing before a crowd. As a spectator, sport paddle tennis has much to offer. There are several star players here in our own backyard. Each one will not only dazzle you with their skill, but will also take the time to explain the game and invite anyone to borrow a paddle and join the fun. There are of course excellent videos of the sport on YouTube. Maybe someday we will be able to post one of our own. Paddle Tennis and Pop Tennis are variations of the game that we play here. We may not play like those at Venice Beach, but we are highly entertaining. Enjoy all your summer evenings. Maybe one of them could be spent cheering on and participating with your friendly neighbors here at the Four Season Paddle Club. Our open play times are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 6 to 8 pm, and Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays from 8:30 to 10:30 am. If you have questions please call Diana Ali (909) 210-9357. ~ Perry White FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2016 43 Paddle Tennis The Fourth of July tournament players were ready for very tough and warm double elimination competitions. Several groups play at other times as balls are available for check-out from the attendant at the desk. No special skills or previous experience is needed.
