44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2016
With the change in seasons the weather is getting hotter and we
are seeking more shade and bringing plenty of water. Open play
in the mornings is busier than ever. We had 27 players rotating in
on our two courts. Many players are reserving the courts in the
evenings to avoid the morning crowds and the summer heat. The
wind has even kicked in to give our games more zest. We had an
in house tournament on Saturday, June 25. There were 28 players
who entered. Winners were determined by an accumulated number
score, so anyone had a chance to win. This makes it fun and invites
all levels to join in. We will be having skill level tournaments in the
future when we get more courts. Many family members and friends
came to cheer us on. After the tournament we gave awards and had
a barbecue/potluck next to the pool area. It was a fantastic time for
all. Our winners: First Place, Janelle Von Kleist; Second Place, Sue
Barker; Third Place, Nancy Barnaby. Congrats to the three ladies-you
go girls! They also received a trophy at our Fourth of July ceremony.
In August, we will start a beginners clinic. It will be every
Wednesday at 8 am. Several of our members have agreed to come
out and help new players.
So, if you want to see what it is all about come on Wednesday
mornings. Remember our play time is 8-10 am Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. For hot tips and to see the game
played CORRECTLY — go to the Pickleball Channel on line and
watch !
