This is the perspective of the Artist of the Month, Lian Lee: Rob and I met through playing ping pong. One day, after I played double rotations, I couldn't catch my breath. I was sitting next to Rob, and innocently said to him, "If I have to stop playing ping pong, I don't know what I'll do. Rob's response was to take his drawing class. "But I don't know how to draw!" His obvious comeback was, "If you don't try, how do you know? Well, I've been taking Rob's Drawing Class for over two years and I'm still playing ping pong, too! My first two drawings were an elephant and a forest. When my husband saw the elephant he thought somehow by accident or with help I drew this impressive picture. After seeing the forest, he began to believe I really had talent. Actually all the credit goes to Rob. He provides me the opportunity and leads me patiently to see things I don't see. We are very fortunate to have him as an instructor. As long as you enjoy learning, you will be pleasantly rewarded. We meet Mondays from 10 am to 12 noon and/or Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. Come join us and discover a new you. Any questions, call Rob Kelman at (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2016 35 From mid-July and through August we had several lessons on being tested: why we're tested, when and how we're tested and if those tests are pass/fail. We learned that God didn't test the Israelites or Abraham or Job or even us today because He wants to know what we would do. He already knows. Rather, He tests us so that we will see, that as we exercise our God-given faith, we understand how strong we really are. As a result of our strength, we can then tell others our story and help them with their challenges. We learned that tests are always "open Book," and that we will withstand each test better when we seek His help first. We discussed five types of tests we experience, how to recognize them and find the strength to "pass" them. The members of the class always bring such wisdom and insight when sharing their stories, and we all leave feeling uplifted and encouraged. The last of our "test" lessons was an actual test, and all the women had a good time discussing their answers. As a follow-up to the August "test" lessons, in September we will be discussing "A Godly Woman Endures." Endurance enables us to grow and learn from life's trials and tests. We will learn the reasons why we are expected to endure through faith and prayer and the ultimate outcome of that expectation. As always, we look forward to the shared experiences of our members as they enlighten, encourage and enhance our perspective. If you have been looking to join a wonderful group of women as they study God's Word, look no further. We meet every Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am in the Card Room (next to the Library) at the Lodge. We will welcome you with open hearts and arms! Hope to see you soon. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine "Believeā¦" Women's Bible Study Creative Drawing & Sketching Class Work by the Artist of the Month Lian Lee Life Guide Bible Study Summer is winding down and our Bible Studies are resuming on Tuesday, Sept. at 7 pm in the Lodge Ballroom.
