FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2016 19 On Aug. 2 the Safety and Facilities Committee met and discussed numerous items. One of the items addressed was opening a Dog Park here at Four Seasons. The Dog Owner's Group (D.O.G.) was well-represented and provided information to the committee. After much discussion, committee members Bill Guy and Jan Buschmann were assigned to follow up with the D.O.G. in investigating the idea for a dog park. In a follow-up discussion on UV light and automated systems for the pools (the Lodge pool for software communication and the Summit pool for UV light cleaning and communication software), a bid was agreed on and information submitted to the Finance Committee for approval. At first blush the cost of a UV lighting system appears to be costly. However, the science behind the idea is outstanding. The State of California has current and pending rules for indoor and outdoor pools. These rules relate to testing chemical levels, side-effects of chemicals in indoor pools, the timeliness of reporting the chemical levels to health inspectors (on-site inspections, etc.), the time a chemical level adjustment is noted and needed for a pool and then the down time to make the adjustments. This system would be automatic to a point. Then, there is the level of chemicals needed to clean an indoor pool. The UV lighting systems, when up and running, use far fewer chemicals to clean the water supplied to the pool. The system we bid on communicates between the Lodge pool and Summit pool so maintenance is more timely.
