FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2016 43 We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the RCN main lobby; thus, our September meeting will be Sept. 20. Visitors are always welcome. We invite all photographers, regardless of skill level, to join us for our regular meetings, workshops, speakers and field trips. For the August meeting, the assignment was to take a photograph that includes the photographer in the picture, i.e., the photograph itself not only "includes" the photographer, but the photographer was the one who "took" the picture. Whew! A "selfie" would qualify but as you can imagine, much more creativity was used as we saw when the images were displayed on the monitor. We then discussed and conducted a constructive critique, as usual. We learn a lot about various techniques, software, and hardware to enhance our work. The camera club loves to display their photography. As mentioned in last month's Breeze article, our club participated in another Four Seasons Camera Club Photography Exhibit displayed at the Lodge lobby in July. See the photo to the right of the display panel setup. Be sure to drop by the Art Fair, being held on Sept. 24, where you'll see more displays from the camera club in addition to those of some other clubs here at the Four Seasons. ~ Lyle Cameron The Jewish Social Club (Cha-vu-rah) welcomes all interested Four Seasons residents who want to connect to Judaism, its cultured and celebrations. In the next months, we have planned several outstanding events. On Sat., Sept. 17 at 6 pm, the third culinary event will take place — a Challah Bake & Schmear (spread) event at hostess Ann Michelson's home. After Havdalah, the guest baker, Pat Trujillo, will present 'How to Make a Challah from Scratch,' followed by each participant kneading, braiding, adding poppy or sesame seeds, and baking a challah (a delicious braided loaf bread). Participants will bring containers for their second 'take-home' challah. This pre-holiday event also includes participants making or bringing a schmear, or spread, for the challah, such as honey-butter, lox-cream cheese, chopped liver, jam-jelly spread, or other delicious schmears. Recipes and tastes of honey-apple cups will also be included. A suggested $5 donation will cover costs of the challah and cups. Keep the date open and come join us for this amazing one-of-a-kind-event — flyers will be available in the Lodge. Members of the Chavurah also enjoy social, cultural and religious get-togethers, and connections to other organizations in and around the community. A sister organization is forming a trip to Israel in 2017 with Kay Vesey and the Travel Store, Orange County. This amazing and spiritual 14-day land and air excursion will be a trip of a lifetime, titled, 'Walking in the footsteps of Moses and Jesus.' The award-winning travel agent will answer questions about the dates, details and costs at a private presentation at a member's home in September. Look for the flyer in the Lodge for more details on how to sign up. For more information about these events, and to be put on our email list, please contact us at chavurah.time@aol.com, or talk to Lynn Matthews (951) 909-238-5955, Ann Savy (951) 845-2326, or Nancy Justice (951) 769-5804. ~ Dr. Zee 'Rachel' & Ernie Knapp, Coordinators Camera Club Chavurah Jewish Social Club Four Seasons Camera Club Photography Exhibit displayed at the Lodge July 22 through July 31 in the lobby.
